One thing for certain is that Graham Wright has no issue in making the tough calls. So if he feels Vossy isn’t the guy that will take us forward and lead us to our next premiership then he will make that call.

I think we are in great hands with Wright in charge going forward.
I hope you are finally right because we are a mess with no leadership. It's so obvious it's a shemozzle.

The guys we get with big reps are often looking to enhance their retirement fund by the time they get to Carlton.

Graham Wright is still in his prime and motivated to stick it to the clubs who overlooked him for past opportunities despite his success elsewhere.
Yep - Don't hide it Wiz - COOK.

Honestly, I thought he was doing a good-ish job until Sayers left. As soon as that happened I think he was, well, cooked.

He's mailed it in this year.

My biggest frustration is it’s the same things week in week out and have been for 3 years.

Poor ball use, no system and bombing inside 50. Basics that can be improved but aren’t and I don’t understand why

We make the game so hard and it’s hard to watch. It’s ugly and inefficient. It must be so hard to be a player in this side
I firmly believe that much of poor ball use is because of lack of system.

İf players know where to expect their teammates it's makes picking the right target easier. İf they've got to look and decide every single time then it delays decision making by that split second. Giving time for them to be closed down.

Our players don't work in concert to open holes and leading lanes for each other when bringing the ball up the ground. Opposition teams have players go close to a defender in a zone to make them sag out of position a few metres, giving their teammate a space to lead into for a simple kick/mark. Rinse and repeat up the ground.

GWS did this to us repeatedly.

Another thing we don't do is take the space when an opponent doesn't stand the mark. Just stand there and kick from behind the mark when there isn't anyone within 20-30m.

We need better systems to bring the ball up the ground without kicking long to a contest

We also need to have a bunch of set plays for a kick in from a behind. We have one, the kick up the ground to Cripps when everyone goes to the 50m/ boundry intersection.

Yeah, I know I've gone off topic a little. Stream of consciousness.

Personally, I think they'll enable Voss to go into the final year of his contract with long-term support. If he performs we re-sign him later in the year (at the bye or afterwards given what happened in 2024) and the coaching panel has been righted. If not, then we don't have any soft cap money wasted in a coach not coaching the team and Wright has a full 12 months to find a coach.

To that end, it wouldn't surprise me if we ended up with a "director of coaching" such as a Longmire or Simpson who Wright positions to takeover from Voss if things don't come good but if they do their experience and insight will be invaluable anyway. It's a win-win.

How quickly could things change? You mentioned the talk is Voss is safe unless we fall away badly, what do you think that looks like?

Games against Essendon, WC and Nth the next 3 games, two wins is the absolute minimum here, if we lose 2 of these the pressure and noise will be huge.

If winning contested ball by +38 and still losing by 28 doesn't tell you something's wrong in the state of Denmark, nothing will.

I can no longer Cope(nhagen)....

Do you think if our poor form continues that it will be a major risk sticking with Vossy next year? Because it could be another wasted year and if he has a poor start, having an interim coach to see out the year would be a disaster.

The other thing for almost certain is that he wouldn't be telling anyone if he thought the coach(es) would be sacked,

Would be disgusted if we dropped one of those , but you just feel like we will 🥵

We should not be willing to match the ridiculous offer made to TDK.
He ain’t the millionaire footballer that STK are attempting to lure, with cash.
TBH I think St Kilda would implode if he accepts. Part of me wants him to.
I think I'd call that huge Poker Bluff. Marshall will immediately look elsewhere (we could grab him) and the playing group would certainly get shitty I reckon if they are all on peanuts to make it happen. Then they want Rowell as well?
Would be popcorn time.

We’ve got our President living in Sydney and a CEO that’s probably out shopping for retirement villas and European river boat cruises.. The club feels like it’s in autopilot mode.
And a Footy GM who's sitting back reading comics with his feet up on the desk until the end of the year FFS.

Alright, you asked for what I think. I'll play devil's advocate here - based purely on my own opinion and nothing I've heard.

Round 13 Essendon winnable (60/40)
Round 14 @ West Coast winnable (90/10)
Round 15 North Melbourne winnable (60/40)
Round 16 @ Port Adelaide loss (poor record at AO but winnable) (30/70)
Round 17 Collingwood loss (20/80)
Round 18 Brisbane loss (potentially winnable) (35/65)
Round 19 Melbourne winnable (50/50)
Round 20 Hawthorn loss (30/70)
Round 21 @ Fremantle loss (but potentially winnable) (40/60)
Round 22 Gold Coast loss (but winnable, think the Suns will be close to locked in finals and momentum will start carrying them by this point) (45/55)
Round 23 Port Adelaide winnable (60/40) but season could already be cooked
Round 24 Essendon winnable (60/40) but season could already be cooked

I believe we'll know where Voss sits for sure by the end of round 18. Those 3 games after the next 3 games we should win. Agree with what you've said about those results too which I've factored into consideration.

I don't see us making finals if we're at 7-10. We would need to win out (not happening with this team unless a bigger miracle than 2023 strikes).

How badly out of it we are and how much heart or how little this team shows could change minds about Voss's stability.

Good. No need to delay it any further.

1. How many ~$1M pa players can any CLub hoping to have a balanced developed list afford to carry?
2. How many of these superstar 'match winners' can a Club afford to carry who aren't - match winners?
3. How much fun is it for these same superstars to play week in week out- knowing that they aren't really $1M superstar match winners?
4. What do the non super star match winners think of the super str match winners who aren't even performing as well as they are?
5. What options does a coach have knowing that his superstar match winners aren't and that the supporting cast for a so called in the premiership window list consists of 1/3rd of the list always injured and the other third having to play AFL haven't even got 30 games under their belts?

All this stuff is so obvious isn' it?

but lets stick to the same unbalanced list and sack the coaches - and get a new set of coaches in that can make the same unbalanced list better - because they have pocket fulls of magic dust to sprinkle over the list and fix it.

Any sane administration would already have planned to cut 2-3 of these perennially underperforming superstars along with the idjots who put it all together.

They would also be playing some players they havbe no interess tin keeping hoping for some trade value for them - anything..

Want to exercise your FA -see ya! Think you are worth $1.7m - see ya! Not happy with all the 'pressure to perform week in week out on $1M pap - see ya!

Please some sanity at Carlton - because the insanity has achieved jack sh*t.
The coaching group, the list management group and the development group, are all as inept as each other.

We need change in all areas. Weather that’s the head of the departments or assistants.

We can’t
  • keep playing this contested game plan, it’s unsustainable.
  • Continue neglecting to prioritise pace and foot skills.
  • Continue to not develop skills and IQ of every player.
It’s been 30 years of the same, time to get these areas right.

So was I the only who noticed the footage on 360 of Crippa and Walsh walking off the ground after the game, and Crippa put his hand over his mouth as he was speaking to Walsh?
Obviously saying something he didn’t want picked up on camera.
Discontent rife in the group imo.

Probably profanities

I feel like it might be related to possible crowd response, or expected media attention. We're gonna cop it here, kind of thing.
