Very keen to see what role he's put in, I hope he's put in the middle as that more outside leaning receiver to use his speed and decent kick and not on a wing.

Getting a bit ahead of myself here but how good would it be to see him break into the side in the midfield before the end of the year and be a part of the future midfield going forward. He's got some attributes that we don't have from our other mids
For sure, we could do with a bit of luck such as a player's improvement. He has all the markers to be a competent midfielder, build and speed etc, and as you say an outside receiver to burst free. Harley, and Hewett especially are still struggling with/learning that role, getting separation or clean ball. Harley's much better of course but is closely tagged.
Chesser would add another layer. McCarthy is a HB/mid and we'll probably add another plug n' play mid from the next trade. Chesser has his critics but is a 'sleeper' in my books.

What's up with this criticism from Freo?
(excerpt from West Aust.)
"It is the first time the club has played on WA Day eve, but not the first time they have worn the State’s colours. This one caused quite the stir with Fremantle supporters, who claimed the Eagles shouldn’t be allowed to represent WA’s history and even prompted a clip from Dockers coach Justin Longmuir..."
Not up to speed on this, but surely if there was ever a team to represent W.A's history, it'd be WCE. Aren't Freo allowed to do same?

I'm sure we'd cry about it if the shoe was on the other foot club.

Tit for tat.

Absolutely, given their pathetic history..
But how does it work, why do Eagles get to do it and not Freo, just how it lands on the calendar/fixture?
Don Pyke said on the Eagles pod last week we went to the AFL and requested that time slot for WA Day and are hoping to keep it. Similar to Freo always request ANZAC day at home. And all the Vic teams request every national public holiday game.

We hope to make it our own. I believe it’s a channel 7 national game too. Sponsors ect would love that.

Could’ve at least gave us North, Saints, Bombers or Richmond (colours wouldn’t work) to ease us into making it our own day.

Please be true...... my son continually brings up that at the time of Chesser's drafting I was celebrating that we had drafted a better prospect than Erasmus and Johnson.

Turns out the bar was set even lower than I could have imagined, but then this happened:

Chesser will thrive under McQualter's tutelage. Brought in from the shadows of Simmo's gimp wing.

Ankle free from injury, boasting a rock hard body.

For me the case against trading in Cameron is that a good ruck won't help our centre clearances, if Simmo's view on how midfields set up for centre bounces is accurate. So why spend the draft capital trading someone in?

A couple weeks back he was on one of the footy shows and explained that at centre bounces its three 1-on-1 contests, while in the past midfielders set up as a group. The days when prime NN was having opposition midfielders set up to nullify him winning the tap are not what todays centre bounces are about.

With our mids being young and lacking the core strength to out-position their direct opponent, it's no wonder we're getting destroyed. Not sure a better ruck changes that. Maybe they'll reduce the rucks around the ground impact, sure. But we're going to get beaten in the centre until our mids physically mature.

Chesser's U10 form was far better than those other two.

Gee whiz, and I thought my post was over the top positivity.

Gettable update for non listeners.

Tom McCarthy locked. Sellwood likely Dogs and no mention of who we might get with our 2nd pick.

Not much Eagles related. No mention of Ryan and Harley for the first time in about a year. ( I didnt listen to the player interviews.)

Tassie want to be able to select any Academy/NGA players in the draft. Cal said less than 0% chance of that getting approved. I noticed we did have 4 NGAs named in the WA u16s squad this week.

Cal said WA/SA/Vic clubs should be pushing to get full access to the kids like Northern academy’s as you can see the difference between the Northern academy in their body shapes, running lines and temperament.

Clubs are coming for Sam Walsh RFA next year. Hawks, Cats and Saints linked. Must not be too confident in Harley this year at this stage.

Darcy Cameron mentioned as as Blues TDK possible replacement. May just go with Pittonet and cut price back up.

Cal sort of questioned the Leek Aleer $800k+ a season offers and what Riley’s suggested draft capital price to get him out (Future First for North)
