Arrr what a disappointing night. Average match to watch to much stop start but Victory got sucked into the City tactics. We just couldn’t get any flow at all and when we did we butchered it. Sucks lossing two Grand Finals in a row haven’t felt this since the 90’s forgot how much it sucks. 😟

I don’t think anything bad happened apart from a few flares being lit msm overhyping as usual.
Flares are the only bad thing tonight thankfully.

Problem is some have stained the rest of the supporter groups with past actions. It was always going to attract heavy police and heavy scrutiny.
Something which doesn't seem to get though the skulls of the some.

Thanks for you efforts all year giggler99 keeping this board rolling 👏👏👏.

Congratulations to Melbourne City winning their second Championship. As much as I hate to say it it was a much deserved win and the better team won on the night, As the post says soak it up City fans Grand Final wins don't come around easy especially against your cross town rivals. So That's 20 A-League seasons in the can! Who would have thought hey considering it's struggles and no matter how the naysayers wants to say how its on its death knell the league endures as tonight showed. so here's to 20 more seasons and beyond. Thankyou to all posters who have contributed on the board throughout the season its been fun coming up with the weekly round titles as well as reading and discussing the A-Leagues with you all.
The off season thread will be up soon, the Australia Cup national rounds isn't to far away and a couple of important Socceroo's matches too to keep us entertained. So do stick around the board will still be active. Cheers giggler99

That was glorious! City were solid in defence all night and had the best three or four chances of the match, thanfully getting the goal they needed. The spice was there all night and City walked out there knowing they could control the game from start to finish. So proud of the boys, a night to remember.

Meanwhile guns and knives are brought into the MCG with a fraction of the police presence. There was a full on brawl there on Friday night.

If any of that happened tonight the media would be calling for the A league to fold.

City now by far the more successful club since both have been in the league: both with two champions trophies, City three premiers plates to Victory's one, Victory two Australia cups to City's one.

More than half of Victory's major silverware was won before Heart/City existed (I consider the premiership and championship of roughly equal importance, with the Australia Cup a very distant third). It's really been a relatively lean decade and a half for them, particularly the last 10 years.

Over the past 6 years, City has had 5 trips to the GF, 2 Championships and a record
3 straight premierships. Fair stretch that.

Yeah, I thought we'd (slightly) underachieved from the 2020-23 era and should have picked up another championship (from three GF losses) from that period, where I thought we had - by some margin - the best group of internationals, as well as the best group of Australians in the league.

Last night absolutely makes up for that, along with the bitter disappointment of choking away the elimination final against Victory last year.

Aside from having his face rearranged, a new deeper defensive midfield role, and he also had a hamstring injury on Tuesday - still played 90 mins and was best on field.

He was all set for a recall to the socceroos but now he'll be having surgery plus sorting out the hammy.

A police officer was assaulted, it's in the ABC news this morning.
I'm sure the cop was being perfectly innocent and above board in his treatment of people

The insinuation that it was somehow an on-duty police officer's fault is a disgrace.

Why should thugs wearing face-coverings be given the benefit of the doubt? There's only one reason they cover their faces in the first place.
