Florent comes in. Jordan should go out after his 10 disposal game, the third in a row, but won't.

Fox has not had a VFL game yet.

Harry, Mills, Wicks, Francis, Datoli & Hannily need to come in. Go small. Wilbur at FF. McLean 2nd Ruck. Four crazy small forwards, Datoli, Hannily, Cleary and Campbell. Campbell and Cleary high forwards and Datoli and Hanily deep forward.
Yes let's rush Wicks back and risk it, play Francis off a few weeks out with concussion, chuck a kid (Dattoli) out there who hasn't run out a full VFL game after no pre-season and months off with a back stress injury, as well as a still partly underdone Mills ... all in the same side.

Oh I see you want Harry rushed in as well, after playing a managed 3qtrs in his first game for the season. And Florent deserves to be back... Good Lord.

Put a fit team out there, maybe Mills at most.

If we can't beat the Tigers (who faded last weekend) with 23 fit players, we just don't win.

More chance than if we can't run out a game or lose a couple because we panicked.

Plus change the entire game plan because that is easy to do overnight.

If the culture is strong enough , you can get by no worries .

It’s simple for me.

We can’t win the flag and we won’t make finals.

Would I rather not make finals and draft king

Or would I rather not make finals and get a duursma and king.
We won't get a Dursma and King. Not with the new bidding system. We will get our Academy picks though. We will bid for King, Carmichael and Chamberlain. We might also bid McNamara and Kyle. All are Allies Reps. King should fall between 6 and 10. The other two between 15 and 30. The last two will probably be late picks or Rookies. By the way, we would need to tank really hard to get Dursma. We would need to finish in the last three. He is touted as a Number 1 pick, at most 3. We don't have any hope.

6. King

15. Chamberlain

25. Carmichael

We will need to use next year's draft to pay for them.

Trouble is - Cox will need to be seen to be making “tough decisions”.

I think there’ll be change - but it’ll be the usual suspects axed.

All this talk about players in vs players out, form, dropping senior players etc etc is all just pissing in the wind. The problem is the game plan and overcompensating our focus on defence and contested ball. Until we get back to offence focussed footy where the players aren't scared to run off their direct opponent and progress the ball in numbers, it’s going to be a shit show.

At the moment we are allowing our opponents to dictate the state of play because we are reacting to their moves instead of worrying about our own. The end result is a delay in mental attacking transition by the ball carrier and his teammates which creates lack of support for the ball carrier and getting caught.
I agree with you. We have won contested ball at the expense of our skills and offensive run.

He can make some tough decisions, dropping experienced players and still bring in fit players who have displayed something at least at reserves level.

Not sure who is fit & displaying anything much in the VFL.
So rush players back instead without regard for performance or their wellbeing?
  • Mills in for Rampe
  • Buller in for Ladhams
  • Leidler in for Bice
  • Hanily & Cleary in for Lloyd & Corey (sub)
MIlls probably still a bit underdone (less than others), but we all know he'll be back and should manage a full game in defence, or chuck him forward late.

Or manage Grundy more, ruck Ladhams more, leave Buller out.

Cox already contradicts what he said last Friday, but agree, I don't think he will.
No. I still think he would be better than most of the flotsom we have now. He might not make it but he gives you 110%

I would love to see Cox create the same game plan he had for the Suns game. But I am not sure he can. He believes he is right and obviously he has to learn the hard way. McCartin etc. He still hasn't learned that Blakey is not a lockdoown defender. Idiot. Even Blind Freddy knows that.

My hope for training this week and the weeks ahead is that we focus less on trying to play our game plan and nail it, and that we instead focus on learning to play imperfectly.

What to do when you're tackled or your space is closed off, what to do when your teammate has banged it on the boot down the line, what to do when the corridor is closed off.

Like what is our plan when things aren't going our way and the game plan can't get off the canvas? Because against any decent pressure from the opposition, things just fall to pieces for us.
I think the problem is we have not been playing intensive drills due to injury. Intensive drills are all about pressure and getting out of a tight squeeze. If you don't practice these situations with real pressure you don't perform them well in matches and you panic. I think we have never been a huge intensively drilled team and that shows in big matches. At the moment I don't think we do any because of injury. This may change as players return. The other problem is I think there has been a lower emphasis on skills this year. Last year, we almost never missed a target in the first half of the season. But after the halfway mark that changed. I think we relaxed skills work and concentrated too much on contested ball. This year, I don't think we do much skills based training under real pressure, intensive drills.

I'd like to see Buller too. His VFL game on the weekend was better than the goalless one that got McLean returned. I suspect he doesn't come in though.

And yeah, Blakey should be free. Personally I'd move him up the ground for a week at least, wing or half forward, kick some goals and cause some mayhem in our F50. Get some swagger back.

Was there , against the dons at the scg pretty sure. Buddy was a late out.

Agree with this if the game I was thinking off
Yes Membrey was ignored. He was really good.
He led up to the ball well and created space. But our players ignored him and kicked to the others. Shit team play. When he did get the ball he was really clean. I thought he would be a really good player and I wasn't wrong. Do you know I think Dean Towers and Shane Biggs were far better players than we give them credit for. Biggs was left out of a finals side for us and moved to Dogs and beat us in a premiership. Towers was dropped for a Prelim and was not considered for a GF and we got beaten in, 2016. He was in pretty good form on a wing. He was also a player you could rely on to kick a good pass.

Excuse me , i had to check what thread im on , all good

Exactly the same memory. Was lucky enough to watch the game from the SCG media box and the amount of good leads he produced that got ignored was incredible.
How we won that game was beyond me. Just dreadful. We ignored a really good young forward. I was shocked when he was shown the doorat the start of the 2015 season. Sants picked him up for nothing in the 2015 Preseason Draft. A totally disgusting and vile move by our club. What's more, it was the wrong move.

It is indeed Deano!

40 wins from 57 games (70.2%)

Winner Win GIF by Gerbert!

Tippett is close , 51 wins from 74 games at 68.9%
I liked Deano. He was much maligned. Everyone blamed him for losing a match in the final minutes but Buddy had a kick after him and did exactly the same and NO ****ER SAID A THING. It was buddy's kick that was turned over and lost the game.

Hayward i said a couple of years ago to half back , why not
I have been suggesting a style of position for Wil for a long time and being ignored. In the juniors he was a full forward. He kicked a lot of goals, because they emptied out the forward line for him. Every metre over the 25 metre line was vacant and him one on one with his man. Now, this excites me because he is so effing fast to the ball. But if things go wrong I would have two crumbers, the monkeys, in Datoli and Hannily to mop up if he doesn't get the mark. They are both extremely fast and if they are out on the 25 it works. We played this years ago and it works perfectly if the players are right. This sort of move doesn't get old. Port used it. Crows do now. Lions used Charlie this way. Elliot is being used like this now and Schulz and Bobby Hill do the mopping up.

The problem I see with that side is that at present, we can’t get out of defensive 50. We have no run, no carry, no precision kicks apart from Blakey.

Personally, I think if Bice goes out, Florent needs to come back. For all his flaws, Florent is an elusive runner & we need SOMEONE to take the game on. I’ve been convinced by a few commentators (Josh Jenkins in particular) that the solution to our woes starts at half-back.

Aside from that, neither Buller nor Hanily offer much in my view. And I think Cox agrees.
Hanily kicked 3 last week. So did Datoli. Buller was good in the first half. Can't say the same about McLean the week before but McLean did kick 2 goals in the Seniors. I don't know about Buller but Hanily has a future. I think you being on the same wave length as Cox is pretty damning of your footy prowess lol. After all he has ****ed this footy team completely.

Thanks DQ. Excellent preview.

Gotta say I've enjoyed watching Richmond this year. A sentence I've never written before. Their young players run around, take the game on and enjoy themselves. I've tipped Tigers to win but who knows, maybe this is the week we make an effort
