The interesting comparison to Cummins is Mitchell Johnson who had 313 in 73 tests vs 300 in 68.

It's definately Cummins IMO. Agree Johnson had periods of unplayable dominance but Cummins is way more consistent over the journey. It's really the mental side that separates the two. When high on confidence, Johnson was the best bowler in the world (probably a higher peak than Cummins). However, when confidence was down, he was genuinely awful.

Cummins mental side has obviously seen him lead the team out of a very tumultuous era and back to being the world's best (with a team nowhere near as strong as previous versions). Lead from the front and played a number of very important innings with the bat (Johnson could hit the ball too but didn't play near as many crucial innings).

It was the combo that destroyed batting line ups, McGrath, on a dime, short of a length, Lee absolute express, Gillespie quick and accurate, then the greatest leggies of all time.
Rotate that with different combo's and they were irristible.
Lee like most express bowlers was inaccurate, however he was as quick as any Australian fast bowler since Thomson who was also inaccurate. Starc is as inaccurate as Lee but not as quick, as a left armer he is vital to this current line-up. Not as good as Johnson who for much of his career was inaccurate.
Hazelwood is meh, a similar bowler to dozens of other Aussie trundlers. Would prefer Boland to him.

Absolutely not.
Come on now.

Johnson's 2013/14 ashes series probably skewed many peoples' memories of him. It was arguably the highest peak of any fast bowler in the modern era but the vast majority of his career wasn't like that at all.

You've got high standards if you think Hazelwood is meh.

Yep the consistency over a period is more impressive even if 13/14 Johnson with the handlebar mo was the most exciting bowler I've ever watched.
I feel like Johnson got inside his own head a lot (he said the Barmy Army taunts and later Phil Hughes's death messed him around) which prevented him from being more consistent

Quinton DeKok, Faff Du Plessis, Heinrich Klaasen should all be in this test side - all sold out to the IPL/franchise circus.

Faf du Plessis was done as a red ball cricketer. Klaasen has been a fine white ball cricketer but did nothing of note in Test cricket. QDK retired from Test cricket for family reasons but has played in a number of hit and giggle franchise tournaments around the world which tells you where his priorities are.

Geez, it's fascinating how much every single non-Aussie at the ground, including every single commentator, just DO NOT want Australia to win!

The commentary is mind-bogglingly just plain barracking against us for every single ball!

Ian Smith hates us, but tries to make out he doesn't.

F*** them all when we win!!!!

Still going around in IPL
And abandoning the Test side probably increased his longevity in the shorter formats. No way would he still be playing Test cricket even if he was available to.
