The absolute highlight of the 2022 Grand Final post-match celebrations

Nearly 3 years later and the clip is still being shared on Twitter - multiple accounts sharing the footage last month including this one with over 2.9 million views, 129k likes and 15k shares

It's a moment that will continue to live on as we look to continue to share feel good stories like this

How lucky have we been supporting the cats. I even enjoyed the 90s because they’d win most of the time, just like in this century. Yes, they lost a few grand finals but they were great to watch for most of the 90s.

1998 and 1999 weren't great
But the Blight-era was my favourite era. The upper-end talent was top notch. It's a shame the bottom half a dozen were fairly average though.

I'm not sure if there's any members of Jean's family on here, - sorry for your loss and may she rest in peace

Her grandson Rizzo used to frequent this board many moons ago.

I came here to say. I've decided that I'm a Clohesy fan.

Dont shoot me. He reminds me of Selwood. He'll run through a brick wall.
welcome to the club.

Hes not the most skilled bloke or has the highest ceiling.... but you wont ever question the comittment or effort.

Don't know about the Selwood call I'm thinking a taller version of the boy from North Geelong going back a bit Gordon Hynes.
Was he seriously north Geelong?
I remember him at north shore. Such a great man to talk to after training etc. You would have never known the brute he was on field when you spoke to him. He had this aged glint in his eye. Kind of like "been there, done that". And then smiled.

Yeah from North Geelong had 6 years with the Cats then returned to North Geelong for the 1971 and 72 seasons before going to North Shore For a stellar career where he played most of his footy.

What a life. 109. She would have seen many champions, premierships, good moments and bad in her time.
I am very glad she was able to see recent success in her twilight years. Before 2007, I am sure she was convinced she'd never see another premiership. I can imagine that she would have been absolutely chuffed to the brim.

Although her passing is undoubtedly sad, I think it's a life worthy of celebration and gratitude as well.
I am also sure that deep down, she's thankful for everything, and to the football club for enriching her life. :)

Is Jack Martin our first #1 pick to play for the club?

Closest I can remember was Mitch Clark. Was he #2 or #1?

Stephen Hooper in1990?

Maybe wrong on that..

But wasn’t Martin pick 10 overall to the Suns?

Happy to be corrected

Martin was pick 1 in the mini draft in 2012

Lachie Whitfield went as #1 in the ND and would likely be considered the #1 draftee from that year, not Martin

In my mind that is the first player taken, it was open picks for GC right?
The mini draft wasn't exactly an open draft - it was one of the draft concessions afforded to GWS across two years, and Martin was taken with pick 1 the second year

Here's more about it:

THERE will be some added intrigue around this year's AFL player exchange period with a special mini-draft to be held after all the final trade paperwork has been lodged.

AFL recruiting teams will converge on Melbourne on Monday, October 17, for the final day of the AFL's official trade period where they may finalise their bids for one of four concessionary selections Greater Western Sydney will have to offer.

The selections are designed to provide an incentive to other clubs to trade with GWS as part of the concessions granted to the Giants to help them build their inaugural playing list.

A player needs to have been born in 1993 or earlier to be eligible for this year's national draft, but this scheme allows for players whose birthdays fall between January 1 and April 30, 1994, to be claimed by a club with one of the four picks the Giants have to trade away.

Clubs that have successfully traded for one of the four selections will have the opportunity to choose a player from a pool of 17-year-olds

Without the mini draft, Martin wouldn't have been eligible to be drafted in 2012 and would have needed to wait until 2013 to meet the age requirements

I consinder those mini-draft picks ahead of the 1st round of the draft with the same age player. Other then Adelaide for reason's that are only known by the clubs that traded them in, they paid more the pick 1 for those mini draft picks

Yeah. The club traded Shane Hamilton and David Cameron to the Brisbane Bears for the #1 pick.
Fair to say the club didn't get it very right. Hooper was a dinosaur. Played 24 games or something.

Flanigan at least ran, could kick a bomb, and had a decent workrate. The club axed him at 29.
Bourke was a top ruckman, but always injured.
Thank heavens for John Barnes.
