Wouldnt mind Blight playing in the Lynch role this week to give faull & Sims more freedom
They had freedom with lynch in the side and did nothing. so much so Lynch decked a guy so he didn't have to get tag teamed week in week out.

Im afraid Jonty's confidence will be shot being this bad all year.

Im thinking Lynch was such a large presence the team kept going to him rather than targetting the other KPF
With Blight he would be the player that could be the player that does the role and allows the 2 kids to play more freely

Getting games into Faull is crucial but you can definitely over expose key position kids, ideally would like to see him have a week off and a few weeks at vfl level on limited minutes before a big pre season, has shown enough to suggest he is a player

Hard disagree. For one Lynch wasn't worried about the tag team, he was annoyed by constant holding not being paid (well demonstrated by Razor on Fox) when he 1v1.

Secondly Jonty won't have his confidence shot at all. He's played more football earlier than most 1st year talls and will have gained plenty out of it. Had he kicked 14.5 instead of 5.14 he'd be lauded as one of the most promising key forwards in the game.

Jonty has competed in the air and on the ground - it's what he does and he has kept presenting, week in and week out when his frame and match fitness aren't yet ready for AFL. We've got. very solid player here and we just need to get some further pre-seasons into him.

Christ on a stick.
Aaron Cadman only had his first breakout game a month ago and he’s three years in the system and a No 1 pick. Barely even looked like a footballer for two whole years.
Faull has shown ample signs he will be a good player.
Not sure what some on here expect from a young KPP.

Right he hasnt kicked that or come close to looking confident in front of goal.

He was taken ahead of other forwards becuase of the 'crash the pack trait" and that where some coaches have though the game is going. I think it is headed towards more of what the dogs, crows and catas are doing all those teams have clutch goal kickers.

Right now Shanahan has shown more in 2 games of AFL than jonty has in 12 which is concerning. can he turn it around? sure but comparing him to reiwoldt or other forwards taken around his mark in other drafts ... it dosent look good

Geeze talk about the early crow

Riewoldt will go down as one of the clubs greatest forwards and future league hall of fame member, Jack didn’t even look like that kind of player 12 games in

The hardest part for young key forwards it’s the ability to present and compete
Faull has shown that in spades

If anything he’s tracking above expectations given his age and the type of footy we are producing as a team

Pretty poor example you picked there. JR played as a third tall in his first season in a better credentialled team and managed 7 goals, 3 behinds from 8 games with Richo, Polak, Pattison attracting more attention with Lids, Pettifer and even Nathan Brown generating ball options. He also didn't debut until round 9, then didn't play again until round 14 so he'd had half a season in the VFL to develop.

Other than having more shots at goal than JR, he's also averaging more possessions than him as well.

I think you've blown early on this one.

I’ve always been a big believer in that everyone deserves to have and should express their opinion…

Until I read some of the comments in this thread
The fact that the same few people express similarly moronic opinions on other topics allows you to separate the wheat from the chaff

Also the ignore button is a thing

His work rate and defensive work so far has been really exciting.

5.13 is not a great result for his goal kicking but he’s presented really well and is a physical competitor. Playing forward in this team is hard but imagine being less then 10 games into your career and playing forward in this.

He’s going to develop into a really strong competitor and the type of forward you can rely on.

His combination of endurance, workrate, defensive ability and athleticism is really hard to find at 195cm.

Super exciting future and just got to keep getting games into him.

Balanced comment tug impatiens’s campaigners like me forget that quickly , heck I recall josh Kennedy was a slow burn at the blues before turning into a star at Wc , fogarty has only looked really impactful this year .
I do feel playing close to goal does t suit , he’s really agile , so get him on his bike taking marks across HF , he’s easily smothered close to goal

It's ok, you probably didn't have them on when JR was doing what he did in his first season, or Cadman in his first two and a bit seasons.

It's almost like you don't subscribe to the theory that key forwards take time to develop. That's ok. You don't have to but you'll be very critical of virtually all big key forwards in their first couple of seasons.

Except Shanahan

I don’t understand the criticism? Everyone knows it takes talls longer.

If he’s the same in 3-4 years I’d be worried.

Think we will see a massive jump physically from our draftees come round 1 next year. Faull with some extra muscle will really help his game.

2-3 pre seasons normally gets their bodies up to scratch

Talls don't take longer. They only take longer for 1-2 years and then they should be brutally assessed. Riewoldt, Franklin, Pavlich, Cameron, you name it, guns at age 21. Better at 21 than 29/30 for a lot of them.

They 1-2 years then they come on quick or not at all. Maybe Hawkins was the exception during his career.

Geez! Some here have absolutely no clue!

It's just so easy to look at his scoring 5.13 and say that his kicking isn't up to it. Take a deeper dive and note that 9 of those behinds have come from shots outside the 50m arc.

Make no mistake! We have a weapon here that very few clubs can match. To be able to roost a ball from outside 50 and have it sail over the fence is forward gold, it's extremely hard to defend that sort of player, not to mention the other attributes that he brings with his game.

I've said it before, but a simple re-alignment of his body to allow his kicking leg to follow through towards the target is all that's required to increase his accuracy. Time, practice and good coaching will rectify that.

So you're saying they don't take longer, yet they only take longer for 3 years (age 21):confusedv1::thumbsdownv1:🤓
