I'm coming around on O'Halloran after saying I wasnt interested a few weeks back. I know he's nothing special, but has looked better this year and surely is an upgrade on the McNeil, Poulter etc group and raises our floor a little ? We need more decent depth in that 18-22 group of the team, I see hes favoured to stay at GWS now but we'll see if he signs or holds out...

Who are some other potential options floating around like the Pies goes with Perryman and Crows with Cumming?

Will Phillips, Archie perkins, Olli Florent and Connor Budarick is about as good as I gets this year.
The only way to go this year is much like in the past. Pick up a player through DFA or for a 4th rounder (Budarick) then go to the draft and potentially pick up a mature/overager option there aswell like we did with Davo, Gags and Cleary.

He is staying at GWS on a three year deal they already have a few leaving this year after a few last season aswell, they don't want to lose too many at once.

Not sure if XOH has been playing the same role. But he averages less goals and assists than McNeil, double the clangers. Gets a little more of the ball and a little better at tackling. Pretty much he is someone with less impact on the scoreboard, less cleaner, just finds it a little more. His extra tackles are probably not even in the forward pocket where we need them.

We need significant upgrades, and I personally don't see it with him aside from a few over romantising his past support for the club.

I also cannot see how we get Butters without effing up our ability to fix the defence and small forward issue. Without delaying it even more.

And I also think our midfield is a tad overrated as they constantly ski down hill and don't have the consistent hardness and efforts running the other way during big games. Aside from some, you rarely see the mental desperation in most of our list going back years now. That you see in a team like Geelong.

I'm off the Bevo wagon now, as its been a decade of a horrendous record vs top 8 teams and it has not improved ever. And having more of the same weaknesses. I do feel for him as our list management sucks with defenders and small forwards. Even if we had Scott coaching, those holes are still the same. I do think he is a good coach and person if he had the list
But defence wins championships, not all out offense. Perhaps we should have looked beyond " the players love him." They need a fresh voice, fresh tactics and some hard love. 10 years is the max any coach should coach unless you're regularly in the top 4 like Scott, Bellamy etc.

The cupboard for smart lock down defenders, tall and small, plus good scoreboard impacting pressure forwards is bare as sadly. Heaps of teams lack both.

Yes to punting on guys who are established fringe players like Bramble or XOH.

No to Poulter, Baker type long shots.

Budarick I really liked earlier in the year, haven't been as impressed with him when watching the last few weeks, but I think he could be a decent shot at our starting small defender to throw on the Charlie Cameron, Bobby Hill types etc we are currently missing.

Saints have a massive call and nobody to spend it on. If Leek goes for stupid money at the Saints I'd expect them to front load it like crazy and make more offers next year. Even if they get TdK on $1.7m pa

Budarick is a pretty mediocre defensive forward, it's just not his role. He's a decent small defender but the Suns are stacked there now.

Funny thing is that if we let Cameron kick 4 like West did on Starcevic last night we'd be calling for blood of his defender
Either way he should be our number 1 target, concussions or not

He's been thrown around a lot this year. With a full pre-session settled as an intercept defender I think he still has good football left in him, even if he's not at his absolute best.

His toughness and game IQ would be handy down back but has looked a shadow of himself this year and is the wrong side of 30. We really do need to decide this season which way we see the list heading though. Bring in a few more 28Y/O+ guys and go for another tilt or back in natural development and add through the draft.
Personally I wouldn't be adding anyone over 28 unless they're elite (not any available come to mind). I'd be looking 25 and under.

Alot that should go ahead of him. I'd like us to move him to the rookie list in place of Duryea, with Sellwood taking Baker's spot.

AFL needs to change the name of rookie list to something else. Maybe not good enough for main list or nearly finished but we’re not sure if we still need you and there is no better options list .

Should make the rookie list what is now Cat B rookie and get rid of cat A completely. The whole thing is a joke now with only a couple new kids getting their chance via the rookie draft, along side F/S it was one of my favourite feel good stories in football with guys like Boyd, Picken JJ and Dahlhaus but it's lost all it's purpose.

There was talk of a veteran's list for players like Libba and JJ, who are over 32 with 10 years service. Would mean there's an extra list spot as though they were on the rookie list.

Great idea. We did so well out of it. Was Morris not a rookie selection too? I think I remember that but my memory isn’t that great lol
