There was talk of a veteran's list for players like Libba and JJ, who are over 32 with 10 years service. Would mean there's an extra list spot as though they were on the rookie list.
I'd much rather one or two veteran list spots and the cat B system over the current iteration.

Hawks are staked defensively.
Barrass, Battle, Blanck, Frost, Serong and Mraz, with great mediums Weddel, Sicily and Scrimshaw. I know Blanck is returning from an ACL but I’d consider him, Serong and Sicily.

It is against Carlton so huge grain of salt but Fritsch playing his best game of the season. Start of the 4th, Leading Metres gained (511m) playing forward, 12 kicks 4 Handballs, 2 goals, 1 assist, 6 score involvements. Still no tackles though.

Am I insane to think TDK could fix a bunch of our issues? Play him as an athletic key back that suits our game style and can chop out Tim in the ruck so we always have Darcy forward.

I presume you mean SDK? 1.7m a year would be a lot to pay to play Tom out of position

Think Sam re-signed this year until 2027

We asked about SDK in the Smith trade yeah? IIRC he wasn't against it but Geelong said no

According to posters on here I think apparently. Don't recall anything making it as far to the media

We'd have been silly not to ask. Played a bit of ruck last season and was left out of their finals side. If it was ever going to happen it was then

Nah was thinking TDK, hence questioning my sanity.

Just feels like a Bevo move similar to Lobb that could work with his height and athleticism, it could suit our attacking style more than a slower key defender might.

Ideal world yeah sure, but with the accurate money, we’d be 1/10 clubs chasing him.

He’ll go to the Saints for far much more money than he’s worth and engaging in any talk beforehand is just worthless.

Haha fair enough

A little too crazy for mine. I'm not sure he will be good anywhere but ruck, I don't think he has proved to be a particularly serviceable forward. I presume he'd be Bevo's ideal ruck, moves well so he is solid around the ground but is an absolute competitor in the contest

I see some teams are sniffing around Wade Derksen again. Untried at AFL level but good numbers at VFL, not sure what his deficiency is that he hasn't managed a call up yet, anyone watched a bit of him? Late starter to AFL, nice athletic profile and requested a trade to Victoria last off-season (Melbourne I think with the Saints asking the question too). Would have played with Sellwood at Peel.

GWS has one of the strongest/deepest defences in the League. He may see Aliir leaving as a chance to move up the order but realistically he isnt playing unless one of Himmelberg, Buckley or Taylor is injured.

Will Phillips, Archie perkins, Olli Florent and Connor Budarick is about as good as I gets this year.
The only way to go this year is much like in the past. Pick up a player through DFA or for a 4th rounder (Budarick) then go to the draft and potentially pick up a mature/overager option there aswell like we did with Davo, Gags and Cleary.

If we want to move on from JUH at the end of the year and absolutely can't get a 1st rounder back for him, which side says no to Florent and a 2nd for JUH? Seems like a very meh return for Jamarra, but I can't imagine his value recovers much by the trade period if he doesn't even make it back to VFL level by the end of the year and still has a lot of question marks around him.

This is absolutely also only in the reality where the Dogs want to cut ties, the relationship is too frayed and there's no future for him here...

All depends on who pays contracts. Hypothetical of course but if we took on all of Florents contract for the next 4 years (very healthy deal) plus paid the final year of Marras I'd expect a better pick coming back then if we traded out Jamarra separately (+ not pay his contract)
