We are starting to cross the line of meaningless wins. Loved it, and I think we have won enough this year to teach the young players how to win. Now we need to protect ladder position a little. Need those picks as high as possible in a shit draft.
Yep we can easily jump up too high above essendon melb stkilda for no reason other than pride

Druggos had a Patrick Voss on their list…delisted him, Freo took him…he slotted 6 goals today
Poor bummers not
According to a Bombers mate it’s even worse than you think. Voss was tearing up the VFL and ended up winning the Bombers VFL B&F. He couldn’t get a game, and it was the season Sam Weidemann went about 10 games in a row without kicking a goal in the senior team…. he was delisted end of that season.

So Voss showed plenty and the supporters were screaming for Him to get a game …

I think Taranto is like Usman Khawaja where he gets judged unfairly because it doesn't look like he's trying...he just had that look about him. But he's been great lately and he seems to have figured out when he should offload it with the handball and let someone else do the field kick instead of just blazing away

Watched yet another replay of MRJ's tackle.

Taranto got the goal from it.

What was beautiful after that was the Tiger players all went to MRJ to give him the kudos for that Chase and tackle.

I also like that he didn't do the Hawthorn style shit of pushing the blokes head into the ground and showboating. Just got the quick handball off and got on with it

is lynch being out currently a good thing? it might be forcing us to actually find targets and the forwards to present more.
based on last night game, that was obviously the best our forward half has functioned with bloody kosi as a centre piece as no one was bombing it to him expecting a miracle pack mark.
Yeh I was just coming in to say the same thing. Lynch out feels like it might be a blessing in disguise

I wouldn't get too carried away. We beat the team sitting last on the ladder with only one win and possibly the worst midfield in the comp. Good teams apply pressure and don't allow him much space or time.

I'm not saying we should punt him, and next year is surely his last year, but I'm super bullish on our forward stocks and it would have been great if Armstrong didn't go down with injury for so long and if Fawcett and Bauer had come on. Theoretically if everything had gone right we could have encouraged Lynch to look elsewhere next year but he's got a spot in our side for a bit longer but should be managed to not stand in the way of other's development.

Im not only talking about the weekend, he seems to be playing a bit different in recent times even in our losses. obviously don't notice as much when we get pumped but is using the handball in the midfield better then going forward a bit more because for some reason he's a good kick on goal and a decent mark

I think you are right, we need to look at the result in context. I think that Taranto was at his best when he was in the forward half. I wish we interchanged him forward more often like Dimma did with Dusty. He makes our forward line look much more dangeraous. Maybe I'm biased but both Taranto and Prestia seem to have nothing games in the midfield. Harley Reid made then look slow.

What a win. The type that makes you feel you can start to see the identity of the team come together. Strong defence with lots of very good intercepting players on the half back and then using speed to trantsition and break the game apart. We just looked so damn fast. Campbell, Rioli and Mansell just broke the game apart with speed.

Maurice obviously was superb. Genuine X-Factor type that single handedly changed the game for us. The chase down and smother efforts were possibly the best you'll see of each type in any game this season but his ball use was the incredibly promising part. There was an inside 50 kick where he drilled it low and hit someone leading out on the chest (who dropped it), but still was just a perfect kick that no one our team has been able to do much this year. If he can do that consistently on top of the defensive efforts and line breaking speed then he's going beyond what most would have hoped he can become. Mansell and Campbell adding in a combined 5 goals also meant those 3 really had a massive impact on the game.

Also games like that makes you realise I for sure underrated Cyril Rioli. Imagine if Maurice did that every game and at even higher level while also kicking 30-40 goals a season.

Jack Ross. I think he's found his role in the team going forward. He said in the post game interview how tagging made the game easier for him because he just had one thing to focus on. The last 2 games hes gone to the opposition player who had 20 in the half and was clearly their most damaging player and completely nullified them but ALSO hes got more of the ball then he did when he wasn't tagging. So this focus seems to allow him to play better himself.
  • Against Essendon his disposal count was : Q1: 3, Q2: 4, Q3: 7, Q4: 7.
    • So he had 14 touches and Merrett had 12 while he was on him
  • Against West Coast: Q1: 7, Q2: 3, Q3: 9, Q4: 7.
    • 16 touches while Reid only had 7.

Backline is looking strong. Miller joining Vlaustin and Broad as just consistent, reliable, few mistake type of guy that will just do his role well and be a net positive every game. Tyler Young is looking so impressive and a much better player than he did pre ACL? Not sure what happened there but amazing. Same as Short, not sure what happened during his time off with injury but hes looked more like the Short of the dynasty years in the last 2 games.

Faull had a fantastic game too. Glad to see him get some reward on the scoreboard and get more involved in a game. 2.2 and 3 goal assists is so so good. He had 4.11 and 1 goal assist in his first 13 games total, so this was a huge game from him. Our forward line is not easy to play in and then missing the very few opportunities you'll get must be hard. One of those games that feels like first peak into the player he could be.

And gotta give props to Taranto and Hopper. 5 goals, 66 touches and 15 clearances between them. Wow. These guys are showing why we traded for them in an alternative universe where injuries don't hit us as hard and Dusty doesn't go through multiple awful events, we win a 4th flag with them. These guys are good and in Richmond dynasty team at their best, they would look even better. Just like how people were unsure about Prestia at first due to his size and disposal, they would be played to their strengths and would've been loved.

Hopper now 18 games played for the year is his most since 2021 and 4th most (so far) for his career. His career best year was 2021 where he got 15 Brownlow votes averaging 26.4 touches, 4.3 inside 50s, 6.4 clearances. This years hes averaging 26.3 touches, 3.7 inside 50s and 6.1 clearances. Stats wise this is right behind that and about the same as 2019 in running for his 2nd best of his career.
Taranto as well statistically is having possibly his 2nd/3rd best season of his career (behind the first year with Richmond as clear best). Also hes kicked 14.4 for the year? Incredibly reliable infant of goal right now.

Kinda like a statue of Jeff Kennett as your number 1 forward
