That misplaced kick by Young the end - to me it looked like he mistakes Darcy Moore and his long sleeved pies jumper that had a lot of white on it, as one of our guys in a white jersey?

Maybe not but I must say I did a couple of double takes at both Hoskin Elliot and Moore during the game on their long sleeves that had a lot of white.

Eddie McGuire was complaining we were wearing white today instead of purple but the purple v black & white would probably have been worse.

To me he just stuffed the kick. If you look at the wide angle he didn't really have anywhere else he could go. Collingwood had too many numbers in the middle so boundary to Brayshaw was the only legitimate option but he speared the kick. It needed elevation so at the worst we could have got a boundary throw in.

What happens if they call a 50 and a then a reversal? Does the 50 get cancelled out? Or does the reversal happen from where the 50 would be?
Any free is spot of the foul or where the ball is, whichever is closer to goal.

When it happened I thought that’s why Moore did it. To try and get a reversal.
Watching the replay a few times, I don’t recon he’s that smart. He was just angry of losing the game so dropped the knees. If he was playing 4D chess then he would have flopped when Clark gave him a shoulder tap in retaliation.

Didn't we wear purple with white shorts the last time we played them at the MCG, and it was an absolute cluster****?

The Pies are one of the worst when it comes to clashes. Sick of it. They should just wear their more white kit against us at all times. Same with against Carlton and Essendon. Needs to be enforced by the AFL, but of course they don't have the balls.

Their black home jumper only came in about 20 years ago, and for 100 years before that their main kit was predominantly white. It is beyond pathetic that they have to be so stubborn about wearing the black kit. Their white kit has more tradition and history.

Another alternative is we have a light purple or lilac jumper. I don't care if it looks dumb. The greatest contrast is what matters. Could also remove the purple strip down the side from our white kit.

Really annoys me when I see that the incoming Swann has all these things on the agenda to look at, and nowhere to be seen is the major issue of jumper clashes.

We should get rid of the strip down the side of our away kit

easy solution, do the UK/football thing where you have home, away and third kits (third being wildly different from both your home and away; has nothing to do with club heritage, is purely for the visual difference)

if the away kit is too close to the oppo's home, away team wears the third.

easy solution, no f-ing with white shorts, and every team can make a bit of skrilla on third kits if they look good enough.

I’ll take one green and red third kit please.

I met Kingy when he was playing - as one of a bunch of chicks playing at the Australian championship, back when the AFL refused to have anything to do with women’s footy. He was lovely!
Loath to go full sexist dickhead, but your loveliness may have been a contributing factor to David's loveliness.

This close up doesn't look good for MJ unfortunately.

Love it that the Pies were all acting confused and angry about the free paid to Johnno here. Rusty Frontbum was ripping his head off.

Who thinks this circle jerk over the Magpies "tackling" at the end is being completely overblown? I'm not sure what Sidebottom did to Serong even constitutes a tackle (if he was hoping for holding the ball). And if they wanted the ball out in space, it didn't work and all it did was allow us to waste extra time.

I also saw a few Pies players put hands on the ball and cause a stalemate, wasted time, and ball up. Including what might otherwise have been a holding the ball against NOD when he kinda dived on it, but then Lipinksi came in and jumped on the ball as well. Then Cameron did the same thing with a stalemate versus Young. And looking closely again, there could have been a free against Pendlebury for holding Young's arm while the ball was thrown up. Pendles then throws the ball twice. Impressive effort for him to commit three infringements in about 10 seconds and get away with all of them.

But the Magpies are geniuses and the best ever at finishing games.

One of the best parts about that win?! The guaranteed flood of salty tears that followed.....the Excuse Train rolling in (I saw the list of names missing come out to play on YT, it's always so predictable) looool!!! These types of wins are the best, when the odds are well and truly made to be stacked against you, when your back's pushed so hard against the wall it feels like it's breaking, but you come out swinging or dragging your ass off the canvas; then you buck the narrative anyway and win...hahahahaha. So good!! :D

Time to go back the red and the green and the white anchor

lol, the AFL hated chicks footy and, to be fair, we were largely a bunch of lesbian weirdos with alternative haircuts.

I think the dockers players were well coached to handle the "let go" tackle . Magpies been using it in a lot of their close match wins

It involves a soft tackle on ball handler and then immediately releasing the tackle to show ump that the player is not inmhibiting ball movment , trying to force the docker player to madly rush the ball out where additional Pies players are waiting as per their training . But the dockers players were trained and ready, watch the players just gently tap the ball out to no one or a crown of players , never hurriedly rushing the ball out. The pies wanted to keep ball in movment to get goals. Dockers wanted ball ups to wear out remaining time

It didnt go perfectly every time. But once you see it you can see how the dockers knew what to do.

Another win Justin

The "cowboy" tackle or something they call it according to Isaac Quaynor. It's a bit of a deflection away from all those handballs they get away with that are throws - which I don't know if they've also got a name for. It's just impossible for the ball to get to where it does without them chucking it, like the Josh Daicos handball at the top of their defensive 50m at the start of the last 2 minutes clip - followed by a handful of others before the final siren.

You're right about the NOD call. He didn't really drag it in, he gripped it with one hand and a Collingwood player tried to do the same and I think in the end nobody was tackling him. We maybe got away with one with O'Meara in our D50 where he was sort of getting the ball under control as he was being tackled by a couple of Collingwood players and in the end just let it go...but I think under the latest interpretation that's the umps want the player to do, even if it's incorrect disposal.

Just watched the Fox mini replay against the Pies..
Dodgy frees look even worse the second time watched.
Take out umps bias of affirmation that was a 30 point win
It was the most biased umpiring I've seen in a while. It was disgraceful.

The thing about that Nod play in the last minute was that he was playing the fat side winger role. His judgement to go to that contest is underestimated & the perfect execution of that role & defensive running. It’s my most watched play of the game & I still get tingles up the spine watching him go.

I want Sharp to be a good player for us & he’s made some good defensive plays in that role, but I don’t see him doing that.

Jom has to play the skinny side winger with Nod giving him a chop out whilst mostly playing the fat side with Wagner, Freddy & few others sitting out there as well.
