City stood down Mendy.
Everton stood down Sigurdsson after allegations surfaced. Wasn't even charged.
GFC currently have a midfielder not playing while under Vic Police scrutiny. Different jurisdiction I get that.
But if clubs have the will power they can exclude players under suspicion of despicable crimes.

There was a legal decision in Feb 2022 that changed things, so maybe after Mendy and Sigurdsson. The Supreme Court ruled that a person who is under criminal investigation has a reasonable expectation of privacy prior to a charge.
