Hello. Perhaps you've been here before. Perhaps you haven't. If you haven't, here's what you need to know: these threads have a long history of being dumpster fires. For that reason, we take a much stricter approach to moderation than we otherwise do.

What is okay:
  • Heated debate / disagreement
  • Criticising the game / developers
  • Praising the game / developers
  • General shit talk

What is not okay:
  • Personal attacks / name calling / abuse / criticising the person rather than the argument / game
  • Repeating the same thing over and over and over and over (and over) to push an agenda or attempt to dominate the thread

We will not hesitate to permanently thread ban you if you are taking too much of our time.

In the wise, wise words of Jasper Beardsley:

Think this sums up a few things

I'm really glad they're being exposed, everything they said is 100% true about it being a calculated scam, since this is what they do time and time again and then act oblivious to it. They should have gotten this level of scrutiny in 2023.

The good thing now I guess, the NRL community have had to wait 8 years for a new game unlike AFL who had a 2 year gap between Evo 2 and AFL23, and so the mess made with RL26 is even more infuriating and might spark real scurtiny.

What I think is funniest, having bought RL26 on release day, was the fact that the game wasn't perfect on day 1 but played decently enough, and after the first major updates, it got worse in my opinion.

Either way, game was a real half a** job, from Las Vegas Stadium being in Los Angeles or field goals being too hard to kick, the games a mess.

To be fair, their repeated claim that they had 8 years to work on stuff for Rugby League 26 is a bit dumb considering they wouldn't have had the NRL licence for those 8 years.

It would be like saying Big Ant could have been working on AFL 23 in the 12 years since AFL Live when they didn't have the AFL licence for most of that time.

They also mention that Rugby League 26 was the second most pre ordered game in the world this year….
Somehow I have my doubts

Why didn't AFL gaming YouTubers come out like these guys? All I saw were the bootlickers with exclusive access to Big Ant.

It could be a vague claim in the sense that all of their sports games use the same engine so even the work on cricket, tennis and footy indirectly helps rugby league.

It's evident though that their engine is pretty limited though.

Ross has just gone the way of his beloved Carlton. Mediocre and only caring about $$$. Releasing the games and seeing what he can get away with, and fixing only when in panic mode. But I tried AFL26 for the first time in months and it plays fairly decent, like the bare minimum it should've been released at. Only played 19 hours, so have not got my money's worth yet.. still feel like there's no soul or personality in it though, no passion in commentary. Give some different cut scenes like the coaches and/or fans being angry or something. Would like game highlights being played at quarters or half time, would make it a lot better.

Played a few games last night. Some things that really stood out are how floaty the ball is, it can really interrupt fast plays which ruins the flow/enjoyment of the game. If you get the ball into space and have an overlap, the handball would always make the next player stop and turn back towards the player who passed it, and then they get tackled. Also the floaty kicking is crazy, I don’t know why they’ve made it so if you kick it long the ball has to go so high in the air, that’s not how people kick the ball. It makes it hard for marking contests too because on harder difficulties the opposition will teleport into the pack because it’s like the ball is floating down from directly above the contest, so you can’t really kick it over the back.

I think this relates to the ball physics, but the opposition ball movement is so stale. From a kick in, they never kick long and so often they kick it straight to one of my players. They can’t do anything else though because the players don’t go out to the wing or anything like that which is what you’d see in an actual game, to act as a safe get out of jail kick, it’s not really as fun if the most common way you kick goals is because the oppo kicks it to the man on the mark 75% of the time.

My final one is how they display all the umpiring decisions in the same place, especially because they don’t update it instantly and sometimes there will be four free kicks in a sequence (because I turned up illegal tackles) and it’ll still show the first free kick and lag to show the rest. This was an issue in afl23 and should’ve been fixed, and they need to fix the advantage system too and let me take it back. The way the game works, you can’t really stop because they haven’t given you full control of the player so you really can’t stop in time. I still find issues with inputs too and there’s a delay for when a player receives the ball to when they can handball it.

Even garbage like Live 2 gave you full control of the ball carrier. I have no idea why people defend a footy game where it gives you unresponsive user commands when it's a critical mechanic you need. And doesn't Evo 2 look more fluid than 26? I certainly had far more control in footy games before 23.

I just can't buy the idea that BA are our best bet and we have to stick with them.

Feels like sticking with your abusive husband or something because they put basic food on the table.

Symons said the demand for the game was six times higher than expected, and said it had outsold video game franchise members Assassin's Creed: Shadows, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach and Donkey Kong Bananza.

Still blaming everyone but themselves. Scum.

Also a hilarious admission that they are too lazy to model the players and just want the hardware and software to do all the work.

For the last time it's just simply user error, there is no way that a game company would forget to program such simple tactics in a sports game!!!!
