Umpire from springy is very good. Watched him at Beena in the 3rds game last week and was no bias at all despite his club losing. Much better than some of the league umpires i've seen this year!
So what you’re suggesting is former players make decent umpires? What a novel concept!
Most players I know when injured can’t even walk some water out to players.
Reckon the SFNL would welcome those willing to put their hand up

Make decent umpires but probably more likely to lose their sh it haha.

Great win by Bentleigh against East Brighton at Hurlington Park on the weekend. Bentleigh's investment in their junior and under 19 programs is really starting to pay dividends. Most of the best players are their own juniors.

East Brighton after such an auspicious start have fallen over for a variety of reasons. It will be interesting to see what Johnny Edgar does with them next year. It will really test to see if he is SuperCoach as the Vampires faithful are unlikely to be patient with the money they have spent on players.

Kudos to Bentleigh and their junior program
It actually wasn't that great a win but it was when these 2 teams met first time around
Missing on Saturday from round 6 was Keith, Reid, Grima, Giles, Dennoon,Evans,Flanagan, McLorinan,Brookes and Lamb

Yes, that's a reflection on what has happened at East Brighton. Going into the season they seemed like the All Stars but through many different things, on and off the field, they have floundered, and some players are injured and some just turned their noses up. There has also been a lot of politics at East Brighton and coach and management disagreements. Johnny Edgar has a lot of work to do next year just reuniting the Club. it will be a fascinating watch.

Anyone want to take a stab at league medal and locks for toty across all 4 divisions
From what I have seen this yeah

I wonder how much money is left in the war chest after a couple big years paying some good money to players who have come and who knows if they stay on next year

Johnny Edgar is a very good coach. Some call him "super coach". Part of his role at EBV is to talk to the backroom boys and sponsors who control the money and give them an air of confidence that he can turn the ship around and they should keep investing in East Brighton. Rather than going for two or three big name signings, I think he will spread the money over players he deems are coachable and who not only have talent but can be moulded into a team that complements each other and gives effort 100% of the time. It's a fascinating watch.

How many outs do you think have come end of season? There depth isn’t great Jamison and douthie 2 of the best players. 19s program is new so still building not getting much 1s ready talent from there next year

The All Stars the past 2 years have had a lot of big names who appear to not want to get their hands dirty when the going gets tough. Hopefully Edgar can change that around!

Doesn't matter if they are gone , he is best to develop players , won't be an easy fix, but that's the best way , no one can afford the Dingley like paper bags

It was the training 2 nights a week for getting paid that a couple of the All Stars took umbrage with, with the interim coach

Johnny Edgar will refine the culture and build from the bottom up as well as the top down. He is a players' coach which is exactly what EBV need. He has a happy knack of getting an extra 5-10% out of players. He is very good at blooding younger talent from u19s as well.

With a new 19s program and sizeable junior club something to look forward too for the vamps

Always had a big junior club, historically they didn't get on, maybe thats changed but they lose most of them to private school football around U15
I don't think St Pauls/Old Ormond go past 14 s and Caulfield i would think are struggling for numbers
