Not for the price Carlton would expect for him, hence why I said they'd need to be doing him a favor to send him home and then using his salary to keep their other players.
Not interested in paying multiple firsts for a guy we get three years out of, who could fall over as soon as next season.
Itll really depend on if Carlton says **** it and goes for a rebuild, trading out Curnow.I agree with this, I don't think the Blues would.
Somewhat agree but you also need to take risks to win a flag

If Curnow goes and Cripps asks out I think it'd get done for something reasonable.
Only awkward bit is Harry dean being around the pick 8-10 areas, it'd have to be the pick upgrade because a pick 10-14 would just get eaten up
I think a pick in the low teens plus change is pretty fair or overs given his age, I just dont think that's justifiable for WC but that's because...A mid teens pick value on Cripps seems incredibly fair to me, I feel hesitant about it and it is still a first round pick which would satisfy the nuffy blues supporters who know nothing about the draft, and still call up the radio after every loss.
Carltons pick 6/7/8 whatever the compo ends up at from tdk could feasibly get eaten in a bid on their father son who cal put in the top 10 the other day.
Pick 2 gets them a CDT or Duursma
I really disagree on the talent on the WC list which is a conversation for elsewhereWe most definitely need older players, and this is the perfect offseason to do that. We have enough picks to take high end talent and bring in leaders to nurture that talent. Duggan and Kelly are not cutting the mustard.
We also have good talent on the list (controversial take) but that means diddly squat when they’re all children playing against men and your WAFL team is hot dog water.
You are a bad bad person hahaHaving seen how much better Reid plays with Yeo in the side, I think WC should be going after Cripps with all of that McGovern money freed up from next year's cap.

I think if WC can somehow turn Oscar Allen into Patrick Cripps and Darcy Cameron then they have fixed a massive problem which was going to hold back development of their young side. Starting the game off half back is not good for anyone.

It makes it very easy to trade first round picks when you've got top ten academy/FS picks coming over the next few years.
Freo has gotten very lucky with drafting both Treacy and Voss off the rookie list. We can't be paying Jackson and Bolton level trade currency over and over without it biting later.
I hear old Freo have a few highly rated NGA prospects in the pipeline.
Unless the ones we have this year have tanked their draft range just for us, we have one highly rated NGA for next year, just one =(I hear old Freo have a few highly rated NGA prospects in the pipeline.
NGA rules could change as soon as 2027 but next year does have a player very similar to Patrick Cripps.
Carlton would only be letting go at all if it serves their club interests - even if he had a huge falling out with Voss the coach would be replaced before Cripps is traded.
Perhaps Brisbane could sell salary cap space to Carlton for their future first.
Realistically we arent going to get him for super cheap. He's still a very good player, and the blues giving him away for anything less than a first rounder would actually get fans burning down ikon park.
Hes banged up but hes still been pretty durable, played every game this year after winning the brownlow last year. Hes not Fyfe or Yeo lol.
We could just give him a couple of rests if needed too, no biggie.
The but about Dean getting a top 10 pick bid is why I think the blues would be keen to trade up as part of a Cripps deal.
Jagga, CDT and Dean over 2 years as top 10 picks is a solid start to a rebuild.
We could even throw in JWilliams or something if they dump Curnow/McKay for picks too.

yeh? So we trade a 26 year old captain for a bunch of 31 year olds at early half of next season and we can call it that we have solved all our problems?
we would give up pick 2 for all of that! I mean makes you wonder what people are smoking over there. maybe not enough of it.
look at Mitchell deal to WCE and that may be closer to price paid. Of course he is worth to Carlton more than that but he is a player on severe decline. you don't pay pick 2 for that. I guess one can keep dreaming.
Darcy is still needed, Jackson gets monstered in the ruck occasionally. I don't think Freo would make that move, As good as Crippa is.Lets see how freo go as a whole in the midfield vs Brisbane, Dogs and EF
I think a big mid can work. Young probably explores fwd stuff more as does Jackson
Or it allows them to play Jackson as rhe sole ruck more often aswell
Or S.Darcy and Freos 1st rounder for Cripps with TDK departing
It wouldnt be at the expense of the rebuild.Sorry, no 1st rounder for Cripps.
If he wants to retire in the West' Eagles can help.
But not at the expense of the rebuild or 1st round picks.
It's a salary dump helping a champion through to retirement deal. Eagles would be dumb to give up any 1st round picks. It wasnt part of their plans and is a short term band aid. A high quality person and leader yes, but two years is likely and his body says "enough".
I think during the whole Baker thing, I went through and literally checked trades for the last 20 years and found like 1 or 2 occasions a bottom 4 team used a top 20 pick on someone 26 and over. I reckon if you applied that criteria to over 30 you'd find it's never been done and if WC got Cripps and Cameron you could do it twice in one year...It wouldnt be at the expense of the rebuild.
Imo he would be a very important part of the rebuild, even if he cost a mid teens pick equivalent value.
