Recommitted Patrick Cripps [UFA 2027] - name was floated for a move in 2025, stayed

Hes not too old for west coast, anybody between 24 and 31 is the right age.
Its only how unreasonable Carlton want to be on trade value that would affect how viable it is for west coast

West Coast are not playing finals in the time cripps has left. He's too old.

Just can't see him coming back home to help a rebuild that he will see no fruits of before retirement when he's been doing that his whole career for no reward. As much as he has ties to the Eagles if he comes home I could see us making a move otherwise to a fellow contender in VIC I'd say.

Luke Power & Luke Parker were traded at 31

Power got a pick 69
Parker got a pick 44

Yes, Cripps is doing better than both those blokes - but to think he would get a 1st rounder is batshit crazy. He is going to be 31 come round 1 & has put a shit-ton of miles on his body. The end could very well come fast for him once the decline starts to show. Crazy talk to think anyone would give a 1st rounder for him. I don't think there has ever been an example of a 31+ year old being traded for that
Neither of those guys were a year removed from a Brownlow lol

Saying "doing better than those blokes" is pretty disingenuous when Parker was close to being out of Sydney's best 22 and Cripps won a Brownlow last year.

I think a pick 15 to 20 is fair enough when you think Freo would be overpaying on the max 60 games they'd get out of him to push them over the top for a flag and WC would be overpaying for the flow on effect for the rest of the list.

Im still adamant though that short of getting for free from AFL assistance, it would be way too expensive for the net benefit to WC. Stick to the Mitch Duncan's and Starcevich's for free and trading for Mcvee is far better list management.

Cripps should go home

Could be a massive get for WC to start their rebuild properly

To a team like a Hawthorn or Geelong he would surely be worth 2 of those late first rounders. Both would be clear flag favourites with Cripps for the next few years.

West Coast cant really afford to be trading a first for a 31 year old though.

I'd say 1 late first rounder if your Freo perhaps, but even then - i doubt it.

It's not to say i think he is crap, certainly isnt. Just cant think of any examples where a 31+ year old has been traded for that much

Brodie Grundy was 29-30 and only got a very late 2nd rounder + pick 44

Tom Mitchell was less again

Whats the example of a 30-31 year old midfielder getting a first rounder previously?

Despite Carlton discussion board being full of nuffies.
The other thing to consider - coteries, management the whole club loves Patrick Cripps and want him to be a one club player and have a legacy at the club pretty much like Nat Fyfe at Freo.
All players are up for discussion for the right price and pick 10 is not one of those.

Move Cripps and TDK on and our salary cap is all of a sudden looking workable again. Also pick up valuable first rounders to get our picks back on track.

I reckon the only way it gets done is part of pick swaps to advance Carlton up the board.

Pick 1 (or 2 if we have it) no. Pick 15 or whatever Hawthorn's pick is no. Pick 20+ why would they do that?

He hasn't had much finals glory. Those veteran players that move to help with rebuilds like that usually have 2 or 3 premierships under their belt and therefore are no longer prioritizing success.

He'd be going to a team in contention.

Cripps flag chasing at a contender (unless it's Freo) would tarnish his legacy a bit. I don't think many people would hold it against him if he decided he wanted to finish his career in WA, or by the same token wanted to retire at Carlton when the time comes. Great servant.

Either are Carlton. WC are poor but at least not delusional.

yeah a 23 year old Cripps.

but he is closer to 32. lets not look at what he did in his youth. what does he offer now as a slow declining footballer?
This completely ignoring the fact that a 30 year Patrick Cripps won the Brownlow Medal with so many votes it made the AFL media's weekly masturbation over Nick Daicos look calm and measured.

Nuff nuffs on here think that a club captain with an equal all time club record of 5 b&f's, multiple AA's, 2 Brownlows, and 2 years to go on his contract is going to move clubs for a bag of chips - and then label Carlton supporters as delusional?????
Just stfu already!
LMMFAO and smfh.

What do you think Pendlles and Lachie Neale are worth?

GAJ was traded for an upgrade from pick 24 to pick 19 and a future second round pick.

Cripps is a great player and has been for a long time. But he's not a highly valuable trade asset at this time.
