Geelong rorting the system

The walls of text posted by Geelong supporters conveys a sense of terror that the rorts are coming undone and that they’ve got more to hide. Interesting.

Yes. From my lounge room in Blayney I have lots to hide about the club I don’t even have a membership for. I’m in on everything. It’s me that’s been propping these alleged deals up.

Mate you really need to stay in your lane. Which government pledged $142M? I think you are mistaking federal and state governments, and schools are not in the federal domain.

And if you think money earmarked for a stadium is why a school can't be built, you are deluded. Have you checked the level of Victorian state debt?

Well it clearly says in that article that $102m was pledged by Dan Andrews for stage 5 and Wiki says $142m was spent on it in 2023/4 which is hardly surprising because nothing any Government does comes in at budget.
Face it, we're splitting hairs, you mob rorted over $100m for a capacity upgrade of a regional stadium that you dont fill to capacity at the 9 home games you get, nor do you play finals at, because the truth is you want MCG exposure and finals as thats where the GF is.

Meanwhile, kids cant get a school as promised.

This is precisely the baseless bullshit that perpetuates this thread. The football club DOES NOT own the stadium. It is run by the Kardinia Park Stadium Trust which is ultimately owned by the state government. But being in Adelaide you already knew that... NOT

You brought AO up.

$535m for AO to house 2 AFL clubs for 23 weeks of the year plus finals on top of an International test cricket match, 1 day games, T20, big bash, state matches, home to SANFL, rugby games, concerts.

And $340m for 9 weeks for 1 AFL club and the odd cricket match between low drawing countries.

Please.

Since 2016 because they were spending millions on it, and rightly so.
Why should the good people of Melbourne fund, via their taxes, a stadium in Geelong, run by Geelong council.

Please what. VFL games, concerts, training base for an AFL club, entire sporting precinct for a number of sports.
Who gives a shit. Plus you already had a home ground anyway.

You didnt need a seat capacity upgrade for VFL games, lol, concerts, who would go an hour out of Melbourne to perform that would require 40k seats.
40k seats for a training session, lol.
It was a vote buying rort that benefits 1 club.

AO is also a sporting precinct so I'll add international tennis to its capabilities.
Its redevelopment has significantly imcreased attendances by bringing the game into the city.

Football Park remained home ground for the Crows with the land surrounding sold to developers for $71m.

AO didnt come at the expense of local schools though.

An incredibly dumb post that has to be trolling?

The football club has NEVER owned the stadium.

The good people of Geelong don't pay taxes? I live in Melbourne. The Club has a sizable supporter base in Melbourne. But you already knew that... NOT

Couldn’t be more pleased for you. You’re still whinging because another larger government spent less money on an opposition venue than a smaller government spent on yours.

I never said you own the ground, you just benefit from the rort.
You dont own Cotton on or the neighbouring farm land either, but...

$267.5m each spent on 2 AFL clubs and test cricket etc. etc. v's $340m spent on 1, hmm.

Because I still don’t know what it is you think I’m supposed to be suspicious about!! That’s basically why. I haven’t even called YOU a bedwetter I’ve said that the people who assume all of this comes from some form of cheating are the kind of people who can’t accept that a side just wins.

All I am supposed to go off is the stuff people in this forum are saying, basically.
Well I am starting with wondering what the facts are, assuming there are any, surrounding the alleged Bomber Thompson rezone windfall.

Probably not. As we’ve only really signed two star players in the last 12 seasons, we aren’t due for another one until about 2030.

The legend of Bailey Smith’s career at the Dogs continues to grow, it seems.

Remember, Bailey was simultaneously a gun and a star and worth the World while also not good enough to play in the Dogs midfield and they were better off without him (while sitting in 9th)

They still can’t decide which narrative they want to run with.
I imagine if they miss Finals the Salty Dog cafe will be packed.

Take it up with the grubby vote buying politicians who threw the money at the stadium because it is in a marginal seat

From a government that receives one sixth as much tax. Hmmm

If I say hmm often enough it will make it sound like a rort and like the stadium upgrades will explain why your club lost by 15 goals to us in a preliminary final. That’s what did all the scoreboard damage. The taxpayer funded ground upgrades and the various intricacies and differences between the states. Not the players.

An upgrade on 119, we'll take it as money well spent.

And weve got Olympic Dam to cover our costs, we dont need 7 million camped on a postage stamp parcel of land.
Geelong give away their dirt to blokes who kick a pig skin.

We have two players who live on farms as far as I know and one of them can barely kick the thing (Rhys Stanley)

Walk up start to finals with 8-9 home games is a massive annual leg up.
If there’s nothing to see at the Cattery, why are you the only Club posters believe is cheating?
I don’t see a “Rorting” thread for any other Club.
Every one is not a nuffy.
Pies play 14 ish games at the their home ground ... and you're bitter about us getting 9 LOL

Yeah ok - ill take you more seriously now.

Go CAtters

Now got Geelong old boy Tom Harley in the 2OIC seat at AFL HQ so expect the probing into Geelong's rorting will now stop, before it finds the smoking gun.

Cheap farms, can't fail property developments, free cattle, too good to be true coastal properties all now quarantined from being exposed.

All aboard for another Cat's recruiting coup on the cheap this year.

Can i get a wall of text explanation how Brisbane have fumbled top 4?

Way more interesting

Probably for similar reasons to Geelong finishing 12th the year after winning a flag.

Taste it.
