So am I wrong in saying if GC beat the Bombers by more than 27 points, they’ll have a 7-hour plane trip to WA and 7 hours back, and will play in front of 50,000 WA feral fans?


If GC beat the Bombers by 24 points, it’s a 1-hour plane trip to Sydney to play in front of 15,000 fans who don’t really know much about footy and that same side has a few major injuries , and it’s not a huge drive for your fans to have the ability to drive and watch the Gold Coast team play.

Jetstar has 5 and a half hour direct flights to Perth from Gold Coast, but if they're somehow obligated to use Virgin for sponsorship reasons, then yeah, they'd need the extra time to get to Brisbane. On the way back should they win, there's no red-eyes back to Brisbane, so if I'm reading the flight schedule correctly, the earliest they'd get back to Gold Coast would be approx 6pm on the Sunday, essentially losing the entire Sunday for what might be a Friday night Semi.

I can't see a coach deliberately limiting a winning margin, but there definitely are significant incentives to do so. Geez, they'd be playing with fire.

Why TF am I getting my hopes up at all. Pies/Blues is the only time I can remember a result going our way. 2005 Melbourne vs Essendon, Brisbane vs West Coast in 2021, Carlton v GWS in 2023 is unfortunately how this usually ends.
 
Last resort: Bevo, Bont, anyone of importance. Talk mad shite about Essendon and their players. Completely write them off publicly. Say it’s going to be another twenty years before they win a final with the list they have. Brad Scott is the dud twin. It’s not like any of this would be dishonest anyway.

See if we can give them the mother of all billboard material. Motivate them to a win.

Draw the Giants and beat them for the umpteenth time.

Get the funniest finals win since Richmond lost to 9th placed Carlton in a final.

Sorry. No can do. He can't perform miracles. If he could, the White Sox would have a myriad of World Series wins and the Cubs win in 2016 never would have happened.

In what is potentially a perfect and hilarious summation of our year, Gresham is out of the game tonight for "personal reasons". Anyone who has read the BF Rumour thread might know why this is amusing - assume the personal reason is due to some potential unrest between him and Caddy!

Him missing the game gives the bombers a better chance!
 
Tonight is a bit like a tattslotto ticket you know your got no hope of winning it but you check the numbers. The consolation is the club gets extra time to prepare for next season although delistings may wait until after the VFL.
