Feature article on West Coast fall from grace. Never seen the AFR lead with an article on a sporting club, got to say it stings a bit when it’s your own and the narrative is not great.

I get pretty tired of these types of articles (both fall from grace and rise from the ashes types). AFL is an entertainment product with a number of measures in place to make top clubs fall down the bottom and bottom clubs rise up. Richmond and us won premierships around the same time and are now on the bottom at the same time. I'm pretty confident both teams will be back in finals in a couple of years.

tariffs are imposed by governments they decide what is best for them. econimics sees the good and the bad in tariffs. just like BF sees good and bad in players
Sounds like you’re bending over backwards to felate the orange oompa loompa 🤠

The take for this article is wild to me. They state Port had the hardest fixture this year but neglect to clarify that they had a hard fixture to begin with due to finishing position last year so it wasn't that much harder than expected.

Our fixture on the other hand ended up being significantly harder with the largest difference between what was expected and what we actual got given. Think the AFL media spent much time analyzing that?

Literally the only mention of our piss poor fixture this year.
"West Coast's hopes of faring better this year weren't helped by a hard run of games as the Eagles faced three 2025 finalists twice, more than Geelong, Greater Western Sydney and Carlton, who all featured in September last year."

While you raise some valid point, by virtue of being one of the worse teams of the year and hindsight, we were always going to have a hard fixture. There were no "easy" games

The point is last year’s bottom four shouldn’t be getting fixtures harder than teams that played finals.
Especially when we already have a travel burden that is the biggest in the comp.

Our double ups were :

GWS (4th to 5th)
Carlton (8th to 11th)
Fremantle (10th to 6th)
Melbourne (14th to 14th)
Adelaide (15th to 1st)
Richmond (18th to 17th)

The main problem was Adelaide jumping from bottom 4 to minor premier and to a lesser extent Freo jumping into the top 8.

Based on last year’s ladder our double ups were relatively fair - two finalists and three of the bottom 5

My point is, you cannot compare our "easy/hard" games with those vying for a finals place. We have no "easy" games.

Also, I think our travel run schedule was better this year than it has been in the past.
We only went to Qld once, Sydney once. No trips to Tassie or Geelong. We got a nice almost month long block in WA. We had a few bad late Sunday Arvo in Melb games but all in all, I think the AFL did a pretty good job looking after us travel wise.

To win the flag, you have to be a good team, so it shouldn't matter who you play twice right? If I were WC, I'd be asking to play the Adelaide teams twice, along with Freo. Then add in our gather round game being a Melbourne team double up.

That takes 4 of the six double ups, 3 of those games are in Adelaide. So we end up with 13 games at Optus, 3 in Adelaide, 1 in Bunbury (if this arrangement continues). So that's 17 games, leaving 6 to be played outside of WA/Adelaide.

Geelong arnt much chop. Worst side yo finish 2nd on the back of a piss easy draw.

Yeah, I remember looking through their draw a couple of weeks ago and couldn't believe how stupidly easy it was.
