You mean re: the fact he had a medical?

Well we don't seem to be protesting too much that a contracted player is getting a medical at another club do we?

Especially if we are really that keen to retain him.

If i were to assume i'd say Liam has been pushing for a contract extension for some time now and doesn't want to go into the final year of his deal without one. I also assume based on the fact there has been zero chatter about any contract talks that we are not prepared to do so at this stage.

Bell made an error in judgement awhile back saying if Liam wants to leave we will work it out. That's been walked back recently by the club with the stance he's contracted but that little slip tells me we don't care if he leaves.

Why? He has his flaws but he is still best 22 and he's hardly keeping anyone out of the team by playing each week.

We already have 4 picks within the top 30 and i doubt we will be taking more than that.

So this leads me to assume three possible reasons why we are happy for him to leave.

1. Future draft picks.
2. A player coming back our way in a larger deal. Bobby Hill, Ah Chee, Windhager....etc
3. We have every intention of consolidating some of our picks into a better one.

I doubt we would be happy for him to walk for a crappy second rounder in a weak, compromised draft with zero value in index points either.

Something bigger at play here i think.

We don't seem to be standing in his way, we had no problem with him doing a medical apparently.

Unless Hill or Ah Chee is coming what's the play here?

We don't need draft capitol so it makes me think there has to a larger picture we're not seeing here.

What's the play?

We have no intention to offer him a 3 year contract extension - I think that is all it boils down to.

They'll work wirh Ryan, who has been a good servant for the club, and they'll keep Colin Young onside, who as Fremantle know can be a vindictive prick if he wants to be.

Most likely the Eagles will try and push for a pick upgrade, while the Saints will want a future 2nd - it'll land somewhere in the middle.

The Eagles should be pushing for Jack Steele, as a similar aged player who brings more of what we need, but that doesn't appear to be likely.

Read above mate. I think you will find we are on the same page mostly.:)

I'd take that and run but i don't see that even being close to a reality.
Neither do I. But Saints have a lot of useful assets so it doesn't hurt to ask.

The play is we are confident in landing an Ah Chee to replace Ryan or another player to bring in and we need another list spot.

Ryan moving on compkiments our 2025 draft strategy.

I don't think protesting over a medical will achieve much.

I wish I had your confidence.

Hollands is another name that could replace Ryan...

Awesome, many Barra?
I thought about putting the boat in this morning but we’ve got westerly winds blowing and the local GF between Cable Beach and Towns is on today, half a dozen ex WAFL players in the teams and a real rivalry should be a cracker, you can’t beat country footy, real passion.
Great to hear that Towns are at the pointy end again. I won a flag with them in the early 2000s 😃

Something like 9 + 19 + Acres for 2 + Chesser?

Seems like a wildly favourable deal for Carlton but can't see what else would be involved in terms of the players linked either side and the picks we'd be getting.

Unless Silvagni gets band 1 which would make it 9+10
I wouldnt be happy with Chesser for Acres tbh, but id take it if Chess wanted to leave

Wouldnt do 2 for 9+19 either obviously

Needs more, if it was 9+10 then maybe, but I dont think Silvagni is band 1

Youll need to do other moves I think to get there, see what you get for Curnow perhaps

We'd burn the club down if they agreed to that.

Well, I would :)

I'd agree on all fronts. Wouldn't go near it if I were running the show at WCE.

But then I remember u traded in Owies last year... So anything could be on the table 😅

I think 9+10 for 2 would be fairly close with a swap of Chesser and Acres if they were both intent on heading home to their home states.

If you lot try and include Motlop u need to fold the club though, he's even worse than Owies. Worst player in the AFL getting regular games.
