No insight or contacts. but opinions;

1. St Kilda
They have been mediocre for so very long they should be trying to be aggressive. Lyon and SOS - as much as I love SOS the player - need some form of highlight to their career, so good on them. It looks like a dramatic play to bring some form of success to their club and be remembered for something positive.

I am not sure their core is that good, so I feel like it's a 7-8 play but who knows. Good luck to them (not really).

2. Us
I think our core isn't that bad actually. I think a play to lose a part time ruckman and a forward for a gun midfielder with kicking skills and pace and perhaps another young gun suits our list fine. We lack polish and pace.

I believe we see Jack as expendable as a solid top 22 player that losing will give us access to something better.

I prefer Gruzewski's potential over Walter's.
He probably won't reach Charlie's 'ceiling', but looks more durable and reliable.
With Harry and HOK, do we need another lumbering KPF?

and when Walter doesn't come on and pick 6 is a miss (like all but 1 pick 6 ever....) What then?

You don't trade superstars for a deal without any certainty. At worst you're taking those 2 and someone guaranteed to be a good soldier for 5+ years.

Draft picks are bloody overrated and so is potential.

I'm no apologist for them, but they won four out of their last five games, have a proven coach, some serious young talent in Tauru, Wilson, Phillipou, Hall, and Travaglia, and are about to add 4 x best 22 players to their list and possibly a couple more first round draft picks. Nice work, and their future looks pretty promising to me.

Those 4 out of the last 5 wins were the bombers by 2 points, tigers by 4 points, North by 9 points and Dees by a goal.

Depends on the potential fallout paying inflated $ for the players they are bringing in.
l expect them to lose a few players on the back of this.
