Oh really? 2 players hey. Might be time you watched a little more football
 Well, that was virtually the implication of what you've been saying but obfuscate with silly humour, won't you? At least I was making a point, or trying to.

Dean and Ison are the only two players tied to us this year who are worth using a national draft pick on but that wasn't my point. If the draft was an open one, then I'm sure we'd be drafting more than two players. I'm not even sure sure the above two players would be our main targets, either.

From that it seems (by omission) that Duffy isn't amongst the out of contract - as per our contract tracker thread.
Duffy and Monahan both signed up with two year deals. Obviously Duffy because of his knee didn't get onto the list until this year, so I thought it was well established he had 2026 locked in.

Josh Kennedy was in our best 22 when that trade went down. We lost that trade. Kennedy won a flag with the Eagles and Judd didn't win one with us.
For half the games he was, first 2 years played 22 games for 11 goals and then Part of the trade.
Had clear potential but was in and out, not a lock best 22

Jedd Walter played 16 games this year..Josh Kennedy played 13 games in the year he was traded. Both in year two. We don't know how Walter's career will play out but very similar circumstances.

We finished the season in 11th place, equal on points with 13th, after having what was described as the easiest draw. We have now lost or look to be losing TDK, SOS, LIJ, Doc, Cinc, Fantasia and then the maybe of Gov, Acres and an unlikely Charlie.

I dont see how we add enough quality youth and have the currency to chase established players in an area of need, without losing Charlie for example.

Walter is more on the Hawkins trajectory.
Very ordinary for the first couple of years until he improved aerobic fitness and how to use his body at higher level.

Our list is woeful. With the exits we have already out the door we are clearly in a rebuild. If we can get Walter and another 1-2 solid players in for Charlie somehow we have to do it. This team is miles from a premiership.

We have so many rookie type players and plodders on our list we are in a world of hurt. Guys like Duffy, Monahan, Binns, campo boys, Boyd.. the list goes on… half our list is young and untried and have come to the club not highly rated at all. Guys like Cooper Lord, Flynn young, will white are mid season or top up players that were holding out hope on. We’ll be lucky if 1 of this crop makes it to 100 games. There’s 15 players plus that remain on the list that I have no confidence that they will add any value at all let alone be part of a premiership winning club.

We have a tough few years ahead and we need to get in front of it in the next 2 drafts and trade periods before Tasmania comes in.

When you look at this with clear eyes it wouldn’t surprise me if the club has sat Charlie down and said would you be happy to give us a chop out if the deal is in our favour.

Doesn’t matter where you’re drafted, it’s your application at AFL level that determines your output as a league footballer.

If you can nail your later/rookie picks, it puts you in a greater position list wise to compete.

You get SOS butchering our top picks in his reign (bar ‘15 & SW #1) and everything thereafter and we are were we are.
We used to smoke the rookies back in the Ratt’s days/thereabouts.

Kennedy showed signs early and does put defensive pressure when he played. he already had those qualities. I don't think Walter has shown that yet

Walter chases as hard as any KPF in the comp. Probably too busy doing that than getting the ball himself tbh.

He hasn't exploded yet, and may never do... But as a junior he was an absolute freak of nature. In a year Harley Reid belonged to I still had Walter at #1 from memory. He just had every tool for a modern KPF, angry, lightning fast, stick hands and a booking kick.

Don't want to lose Charlie but Walter would certainly make it less of a loss.
