Not really. If he comes out and says he's pissed with the direction of the club and wants out your value sinks. No one wants to keep a player around that doesn't want to be there.

I will say I think it's media bullshit but you never know.
Until such time when a player openly states they want out(Ryan, Curnow etc), assume it's media BS.

If (big if) he requested a trade, the deal would look something like:

Dogs first and F2 for Wilkie and Saints F3
If he requested a trade it would look like this.

No.

Wilkie is first picked every week, not simply best 22, is vice captain - and will be captain next year.

Compared to Aleer and Flanders who are fringe players, who can’t break into the best 22.

Not at all comparable. And you’ve also missed that Aleer is out of contract which changes things.

I get that you like your team, but you’ve got your blinkers on in a major way.
Both are in their finals team, what are you on about?

Flanders has been in the team all year you're paying a first rounder easily there plus a hefty contract IF he even wants to go to the Saints.

Aleer on that contract is still costing at least a second rounder

He has said the complete opposite lol? He just had concerns around the club not making a big enough effort to sign Nas, which he had nothing to be concerned about.

Wilkie has already said the exact opposition multiple times. So sure hypothetically, if any player did that it would impact their trade value. But that isn't the circumstance here so it's not something being considered when talking about hypothetical trades.
Cool, if he's said that then why are we all so sensitive?

, I don't think Wilkie will be traded.

However if the Dogs don't ask the question then its crap stuff from their list management people,

Dogs need a good stopper to try and snag a flag, there is a chance, however slim of getting one of the best in the AFL, so might as well ask, worst thing is you get no as a answer and move onto the next target.

Its basic football business.

Personally id be happy to trade 2 x 1st rounders for Wilkie. Also be happy to pay him $4.5m over 4 years. Would transform the dogs into a definite premiership contender.

What? Saints fans were saying "Nas is gone, i can't wait to throw out racial slurs at him".

One of the weirdest stories I've heard someone make up on here.

As for Wilkie, from what I'm hearing it's not that likely he stays and every day that goes by without an extension means it's more likely he goes.

If there's no extension by Grand Final day he is certainly gone. There's no guarantee that dogs will be his landing spot though, North are offering a lot more money.

If I had to guess, I'd say 50% dogs, 25% roos, 25% he stays.

It's fair to say the Saints were not expecting this from Wilkie of all players when they started throwing out crazy money to others.
Just an update of this. I have never had good mail on here before, but in this its impeccable. There are probably only 2 players in the league I could get any inside word on and one is Wilkie.

Let's just say, woof, as a saints fan I am having an absolute dog of a day.

A day so bad that there won't be any further opportunities for negotiation. It is set in stone type of day.

I've also had to warn saints fans, we're not likely to be well compensated.

Sos has apparently put a target on his back and managers are happy to turn the screws. It seems he's made a lot of enemies and now it's time to pay the piper.

I'm absolutely filthy, the dogs are going to be swiping their missing piece off of us for cents on the dollar (in terms of draft capital), while we're off topping up the super account of our list managers son.

Well played dogs at least, if the AFL don't get involved to mediate to ensure a fair deal, we'll be talking about this one for a long time.

Hes contracted so you would get a fair deal imo

Cal’s management and St Kilda have been speaking of late on a contract extension. He was also paid a big bonus this season for what it’s worth.
Can’t blame the Bulldogs for having a crack, he’s one of the best defenders I’ve seen in my time at St Kilda.

No he wasn’t.

Things are uglier than usual.

St Kilda have started trying to set the narrative, hence talk of Wilkie's massive bonus (actually just meeting a contract trigger), releasing an interview from some weeks earlier talking about how happy he is as if it was in response to the trade rumours.

St Kilda are in a vulnerable position and needing a lot of trust in what has been an unprecedented approach to list management. A vocally negative vice captain can undermine that more than lose a player for unders.

A lot of egos on the line at our end unfortunately.

How could we not be well compensated for a contracted All Australian that is being offered over $1m a year?

If he's contracted for two years, St Kilda hold the cards. They won't be trading him for unders.

You won’t be getting Cents to the Dollar for a Contacted player remember saints are holding the cards here
