Walter & pick 6 which ends up.pick 10 for.Curnow is exactly the deal we should not be doing why? No other team would do it
Because at best it is 2 "B" graders for the 2nd best forward of the last 5 years who can deliver a premiership.

Stand back, look at the deal and appreciate it guarantees GC everything & Carlton Nothing

Walter is nowhere near the finished product. Not sure how anyone can definitely say 'at best it is 2 "B" graders'? I would prefer the club keeps Curnow and develops the players and system who can deliver the ball well to him, but it is wrong to be so dismissive of Walter.

A highly rated younger KF plus pick 6 for a flakey 29yo ?

Take the deal!!

Tend to agree. Walter is a good, even great prospect, but the largest key to us improving is ball movement and to a degree leg speed. Better connection and a balanced attack. A quality small forward and improvement in transition is a higher priority.

Having said that, if Charlie wants out and we are open to it, a deal will be difficult to negotiate. Suns need their draft capital this year for some quality academy kids who will balance them up long term. If they want Charlie over a longer term prospect for immediate impact, they may let Walter go, as a decent piece of the deal.

I am quite happy to run with our remaining forwards Harry McKay, backed by Brodie Kemp, Ashton Moir and young forward/ruck O’Keeffe as a balanced and effective attack. Adding in another small forward option to Williams, Frankie and friends should be a priority, particularly if Motlop is on the table.

Having said that, Walter is in a great age bracket to provide progression when Harry slows down. Better future planning than having Charlie and Harry finishing their careers in close succession. Walter has a couple of clanger shots in circulation, but also has some impressive highlights. Much more likely to be a gun than be a bust.
Wouldn't be relying on Kemp's output next year. Will take a bit before his body is capable and reliable again.

Charlie has been angry at the quality of Latte at the Carlton Cafe for years.

Arbitration between Charlie and the barista have been unsuccessful

Last time I was at the club Charlie was on hands and knees trying to get the coffee machine going but the 25 amp plug had been used to plug in the bain marie.

Wasn't too happy.

BF never ceases to amaze me.... If the news that Charlie wanted to leave had not come out then no one would be saying we should be trading Charlie, let alone for Walter and a first from GC. It seems to me that people don't like that he wants out (like me) so the response is now, 'Charlie is not that good', or ' he is too flakey'... this is getting ludicrous.

Charlie is a freak, and whilst sometimes this year I have questioned his second or third efforts, we are not talking about a second string KF. we are talking about an ELITE KF.

If we trade an Elite KF with 4 years left on a big contract then i hope that we get a deal to match what he is worth.

I don't mind Walter, but he is no Charlie. and 6 in this draft is not exactly jaw dropping.

Just my 2c.

Could be anything. Delisting last year (Pretty sure he was close with Marchy) or sacking Russel who got Charlie to play in AA form. Who knows at this point.

Multiple people over the last few months have suggested that Russell was a massive enabler of Charlie's attitude.

I don't know how to take it.

Part of me is like, "yeah, fair enough."

Bigger part of me thinks they've taken Russell's comments on Charlie in the interview/podcast he did and added layers that just aren't there.

Big issue we have is, that anytime a Carlton player does something awkward we're hit with the MRP.

This is such a big issue around the league. People want us to play with an edge like Collingwood but the MRP comes into it.

It's created an uneven playing field where some teams are allowed to go at the body harder than others without conscious concern of penalty.

Hawks got away with a lot in their golden era of the mid 2010's and it's happening again.

There has been some ludicrous takes since Charles requested a trade. This year was extremely poor, no doubt about it... but it has been fairly well documented he came into the year off 3 pre-season surgeries and in modern AFL world it is unlikely you are going to have a good year with that preparation.

If some posters believe his body isn't going to hold up into the future and it is a good chance to cash in, I can maybe somewhat respect that but..

Some of the nonsense around his playing ability has been outrageous - some even arguing his 2 x Coleman and AA years were substandard.
The guy is a ****ing star and Gold Coast would immediately become flag favourites with him next year.

The club is not going to capitulate for a speculative player and ordinary pick. As has been outlined numerous times the deal would have to be massive overs for us to even consider it.

In my mind it is still fairly likely he stays next season and there will some furious comment scrubbing happening in the early rounds next year.

Don’t let the most recent Charlie rumour fool you. There 100% is a falling out with Voss

There's more to it than just that falling out although that is a massive issue.

Wouldn't be relying on Kemp's output next year. Will take a bit before his body is capable and reliable again.

If he gets a good 5+ games into him in the back half of the year I'd consider that a tick.

Anything more is reaching "how is that possible?" level.

100% Wick. It’s why I have mentioned for a long time I expect Charlie to ask for a trade and most likely be traded if the deal is good enough for our club

From what I've heard:

Team completely on board with TDK taking the stupid money offer from St. Kilda. No hard feelings. Impossible to turn that down if you're being fair dinkum with yourself.

The comments from the likes of Weitering, etc. have been predominantly directed at Charlie (and others) without the need to name them specifically. The players know who they're directed at.

The division between the group needs to be swept out the door immediately and hopefully it is. Not a happy group, but hopefully some stern words to our leaders have pulled a few into line.

This off season should be interesting
