Think of what the poor lad has had to endure since he started school. And there's no end to it...So posters on this board have been fascinated with Butts for years? Each to their own I guess.
If he can help address our defensive woes though, could lead to more bums on seats at Marvel... I'll show myself out.![]()
Nah it was the face of the St Kilda Fan Club. Old Scoops himself.Given the use of 'we' I'm assuming that was old mate, Barrett?

Even the druggies wouldn't be that stupid now to trade anything for JUHBombers originally wanted Marra right? Recall someone from a bummers forum saying that they were going to trade for him (before he was even drafted)
We would be very reluctant for a known A grade talent but we would be willing to listen. Merrett and a first for JUH?
We already have Zac Walker so I’m all in on collecting a few more Zacs/Zaks/Zachs. I’m done with collecting all those Rileys and Baileys.Zac Merrett was a Dogs fan growing up and was very disappointed that we weren't able to draft him.
He went to Essington at pick 26 - the pick we traded for Stuart Crameri...
Still has a bit of Doggie in him, perhaps?
I mean, what Dogs fan wouldn't want to start alongside Bont in the middle?
Hope the other Zac feels the same way...![]()
Don't bring the hawks into this pleasepoo bum wee
Thanks Coop, how was the interview with Tom Morris?"We say Billings in a close one"

Beat me to it!Don't bring the hawks into this please
There is no trade scenario not involving our first at a minimum which he isn't worth it for usJUH for Merrett? Interesting - Essendon will back themselves to turn JUH around like they did with Stringer - oh bugger maybe not.
Merrett would be great - he is A grade and if he is gettable you fit him in. This would push Bont forward more with Kennedy and Richards back a bit more with Friejah but that would makes us more dangerous. I am fan of Garcia but Merrett v Sonny is no contest.
If he was a FA then you bet - three to four years from him and look out. Trelor is a start but we will be lucky if he can play 15 games (I definitely would take that) but 27/28/29 we will still be in window but likely without Trelor or Libba. Sanders looks perfect but no guarantees and will likely be poached by the Devils. Merrett would be a smart move even if at a cost. Our chances of getting someone his quality in the draft at our pick are not zero (Dyson Sharp?) but will take years to get to his production now. But don’t won’t to lose our first pick so not sure what capital we can give - JUH, Khamis, Garcia? Today I reckon our VFL team would give their AFL team a challenge and so there are players there that make them more competitive and get a game. They will be much better after injury returns but still have list holes everywhere.
They also need a key defender like us - maybe Gardner or is that being cheeky. He would play for them immediately and ironically has continued to get better each year - watching VFL you would expect him to be playing AFL.
But Unless a trade for someone potentially highly rated like JUH - I don’t see how this could happen.
It is not crazy for Essendon to take their risk - they need to have stars that people will come to see. A big story. Two years ago he kicked around 50 goals and if someone is prepared to take their time with him it is high risk but extremely high return. He would also be the no1 easily at Essendope v No 3 at Dogs. This would be attractive to him. I wonder if he is doing the right things - training the house down like he did early on - travelling with Bont - or with his own sniff brigade like BSniff?
They’d work together like hand in glove in…The important question: How does Merrett feel about playing with Young/Butts?
Sounds like it might be cover if Treloar can’t get through the finals series.Merrett doesn't make sense unless hes coming to play wing or half back. Even then it would be at big cost for those roles
Butts current other option is NorfIf Butts is open to a move, we have to tread very carefully with the attempt at prying Wilkie out.
We can’t have a situation where we’re pushing hard for Wilkie but miss out on Butts because we’ve waited too long and he moves on elsewhere.
Now all that is solved if the club is comfortable bringing in Butts AND Wilkie and believes it has a the resources to do so (leaving enough cap space for Butters).
If we could turn Buku into Butts then that would be an excellent result for us. Lobb might even become our FWD depth behind Darcy, Naughton & Croft if an injury crisis occurs.
Both would be my dream. Butts, Wilkie, Lobb, with JOD and Buss fighting for a spot. Wilkie and Lobb are versatile enough (in different ways) we could almost play 4 of them at times tooIf Butts is open to a move, we have to tread very carefully with the attempt at prying Wilkie out.

We were keen in his draft year iirc.Josh Fahey delisted by GWS, he is a similar player to Wher so wonder if we have some interest.

Good player at VFL level
Would you rather ride Phar Lap or the small mechanical horse outside IGA.Butts current other option is Norf.
I’d definitely take a stab at him. We’re reasonably light on for running half backs after Dale & Bramble and is the right age where he could push for a senior spot straight away.Josh Fahey delisted by GWS, he is a similar player to Wher so wonder if we have some interest.
