Gout Gout will do well to make the semi-final. It's his first time racing against a big field of world class men and he hasn't broken 20 seconds for 200m yet.
I saw him at the Stawell gift. He was jumping up and down warming up and has incredible spring in his legs.
He will fly home from the 150m mark and hopefully get through.
We'll vibe him home.😊

My concern with Gout is how he handles fast runners beside him. We saw how Kishane Thompson tends to tie up when challenged. Gout runs super well out on his own. Can he do it with quality fast guys in the next lane?
Exactly, if he tenses up a little it will cost him. He's used to winning by 30 meters.
On the other hand, it could make him run faster.

its a bit of a joke really, bloke comes out of retirement to play a sport hes never played and the rest of the world also doesnt play, he will also be 51 at the olympics
If the flag football is full of nfl players ,its going to be like dream team in Barcelona

Didnt realise that was an equal PB from Marschall, what a performance. I swear in years gone by many Aussies would struggle to get near their PBs at major meets.

Yep, but that has changed since Rio Olympics when there were some poor results.

Post Covid years there have been a lot of PBs or near PBs done at both the 2 Olympics and now 3 World Champs.

16 year old USA 800m runner Cooper Lutkenhaus who ran a sensational 1:42.27 to finish 2nd at US Trials, was found out and finished 7th in his heat and wont progress. He is at the end of a long season for him so not a real surprise. Unlike Gout he has done a lot of running the last 4 or 5 months.

He is the fastest ever as a 16 year old and also has the 17, 18, and 19 year old age record.

Craig finish 4th but not fast enough to be one of 3 non auto qualifiers with 2 heats to go, Bol is the fastest of the 3.

Too many Aussie middle distance and longer track event runners get bloody checked too often, because of bad positioning.

Bol is now 3rd of 3 non auto qualifiers after 6 heats. needs the last heat to be relatively slow - slower than his heat - but the runners know what they have to do to sneak in.

He did all right in his 2 runs in Europe this year, an open age 200m and the U/23 race at Monaco and he had blokes next to him.

He ran down Cuba Reynier Mena who is 29 years old in Ostrava Czech Republic in late June to set the new Oz record of 20.02. there was a line of 5 of them on the bend with less than 100m to go. Mena has broken 20 sec for 200 and 10 sec for 100.

3 weeks later in the Monaco U/23 event at the Diamond League, he hit the bend in a line of 4 and won comfortably by a couple of metres.

In 2024 a couple weeks after the Olympics at the U/20 World Champs in Lima Peru he was 4th or 5th with 100m to go and almost caught winner Walaza of South Africa who also won the 100m.

Gout wont be bother by others around him. He knows what's coming and that kids he runs against in Oz can't keep up with him.
