I just looked at his numbers and his second half of the year has seen him getting high disposal numbers. The exception being last week against the Crows where he had only 11. I can't recall him going off injured? Did the Crows put work into him? He had 28 the week before against GWS. Very damaging at his best with ball in hand.
They win the games off their smalls transitioning up and down the field. If their smalls struggle to impact you will probablu beat them.

Watson, ginnivan etc...

If Ginnavin and Gunston have hamstring tendinitis( if that’s correct) they just can’t go 100 percent, I had that shit this year and it sucks

Cats 09 has reported Impey under a cloud too. He's a hard nut, but what are the odds of one of them not coming up, or foolishly playing injured. Neale crashing down a perfect example,
Their defence is by far their strongest asset, and although Mitchell is being lauded as some sort of messiah, I'm backing wily old Scott to stick him a surprise or two. Wouldn't surprise if we don't go in with two taggers, just to shake it up.

Fwiw, here's some of what round 6 looked like:

Playing: Stanley, Knevitt, O Henry, Clohesy

Not playing: Mullin, Clark, J Henry, J Martin

Injured mid-match: Miers

r6: Only Smith, Atkins, Holmes, Knevitt and Dangerfield were used in centre bounces (5 players)
QF: Atkins, Smith, Holmes, Dangerfield, Mullins, Miers, Bowes, O'Connor, Clark (9 players)

r6 Matchups:
Zuthrie on Hardwick
O'Sullivan on Gunston
De Koning on Chol
Humphries on Moore
Atkins matched up on Newcombe
(no tags)

Hawthorn personnel:
Playing: Breust, Mackenzie, Morrison
Not playing: Butler, Ginnivan, Lewis

I mean, come on.

Hearing ya, but we've still gotta put the runs on the board.

Your Hawk hopium update therefore stands at:

1. Winning it for Punky (Luke Breust)
2. Our injured players will get up for a final
3. We've shown the 2013 Prelim to the playing group
4. Practised goal celebration
5. Watched the B roll of Emmy-winning "Hawks flopping: A Tradition"
5. Watched "Sniping: A Masterclass" by S. Mitchell
6. Took the #freekickhawthorn pledge

Missing Jack Henry was a big out from the early game.

Frankly, is Mitchell capable of “thinking long + hard”? Is he capable of actually thinking?

***I’m already regretting writing this. . .🤦🏻‍♀️

He was one of the most hated players + now a despised coach.

That’s from a Google search.

Not from a Geelong supporter!

Anyhooo, I’ve jinxed us

Sam Mitchell was always the most graceless and whining interview as a player and now as a coach. I don't think he ever genuinely smiles about anything. He definitely has no sense of humour.

As per 7News tonight:
  • Impey dealing with a calf complaint, but will play
  • Gunston has had a scan on his hamstring, he'll be taking it easy on the training track this week which has reportedly normal but will be good to go
  • Ginnivan also given the ok to play with his hamstring complaint
I wonder how many of those 3 would have been instant 1-2 week outs in the regulat season...

In elimination finals, players seem to push through alot more limitation and pain.

Playing soft-tissue injuries in finals.

I hope we ****ing roll these assholes. Baz / Holmesy need to make these injured players run miles at full tilt, please.

I'm going to assume a game of smoke and mirrors is being played and ALL Hawks are 100% fit. Trouble for them is, so are we!
There's no way they're all fit. Soft tissue doesn't recover in a week when you get to Gunston's age.

But I do hope we treat them like a fully fit side.

You just know what the media message will be if we win. "Hawks were really brave, played above themselves, but injuries got them at the wrong time, still a fantastic season, beat the minor premiers, etc etc"

Maybe. But I could seriously not care less what the media write after the game, irrespective of the result. And I'm sure the playing group feels the same.

Team selection day. Will be interesting to see if Scotty gives anything away at his presser re: Stanley’s availability.

Surely the only possible change is Stanley for Clark?

Agree but I reckon unchanged stanley won't be fit til GF imo.

If we can beat Lions, and then Hawks with Blic/DeK as rucks, much as I love Stanley, would we need him in a GF v Pies or Lions?

Can coach though.
And was a brilliant, very clever player.
I do some work for a team in a different code, and Mitchell spent time doing "work experience", observing how the coaches and high performance team function, and gotta say he was a great bloke- friendly, good sense of humour, polite, engaging, and genuinely interested in how it all worked. James Rahilly also did this, and he was very similar.

Hawthorn was easier to hate when Clarko was coach, imho; Watson, Ginnivan and Sicily are annoying, but also are exciting players, and if we had any one of them in our team, we'd probably love them.

yes, I'm trying hard to dilute my irrational hatred of this team
