Agree.
It’s never linear.
It may be a step back next year
It will definitely become harder before it gets better. Losing Nank, Broad, Vlas, and Prestia & Lynch will set us back. The age of our group will be much younger once we lose more experience. Kids can’t perform miracles. Let’s consider Geelong as an example: if you remove a lot of their experience and replace most of the side with kids, and they have injuries, they would struggle as well. This isn’t on the coaches more who we have on the list.

Wouldn’t even be upset with a step back especially if it coincides with younger players given more responsibility

They will make mistakes
But that will be what drives growth, both individually and as a whole
The same goes for the coaching group

I feeling more bullish. I think we are already starting the process of replacing some of these stalwarts. Grey & Trainor for Broady & Tigger. Prestia is going to be replaced by Lalor or maybe Robey or Sharp. History shows you can pick up a ruckman through a trade. Lynch will be tricky, but Sims & Faull both look very promising. Let’s hope we get another two years out of him. At the end of this draft, we’ll have 6 first round picks on the list, that’s a really good starting point. We’ve shown an ability to find players through the rookie draft and our vfl program.

I think if we had less wins next year but our % was up in the 70s and we were clearly playing better for longer periods than this season than that would be about par and ok.

Can’t end next season with a worse percentage though.

I kinda agree, but it also comes down to how many injuries we have during the season. For example, Yze’s first year was really tough for us and this year had many as well.

Same here but you may have missed Armstrong as a Lynch replacement too. He looks like an AFL player already, really unlucky to miss a large chunk of the season through injury.
And we will have more than 6 first rounds picks on the list too. Great base to set up for the future

Our senior player experience will be replaced by trading and FA imports. Our younger players will move into the 50 game category but real improvement will take a further 3+ years.

Agreed but keep picking elite talent and quickly build their experience base and we could rise much faster. The so called “baby bombers” managed a flag in ‘93. On balance, I’d say you’re pretty close to the mark though.

So called is right baby bombers my arse

Footy’s way more complicated now than it was back in ’93, and that’s a big reason why there’s such a gap between the top clubs and the rest.

Players have to keep track of all these situational game plans that change every five minutes, and if one bloke switches off, the whole defensive setup falls apart and the good teams smash you.

Plus, most players need about four years just to build the fitness to play consistently at that level. Guys who come in ready-made, like Daicos, don’t come along too often.

I know I’m labouring the point, but 5 wins in 2026 is a little skinny. I appreciate we need to manage expectations and not shoot for the stars.

Hopefully, we have a better run with injuries and can get more games into Balta, McAuliffe (I rate this lad, the stats back it up and if all else Tony Greenberg is a fan) Grey & Gibcus. Then we have the natural progression of last years draft crop, Faull, Lalor, Hotton,Armstrong, Sims etc…. We are adding some elite talent through this years draft whether it be Robey, Sharp, Cummings or Grjl.

Finally, I’m not convinced that any of Carlton. Essendon, Port or West Coast are going to have a great 2026.

I'll be very surprised if we even get 5 wins. Reckon a few fans will be angry ants in 2026.

I definitely agree 5 might feel a bit skinny but I'm factoring in the GC game for example I can't see us winning again next year and the natural improvement that will happen to teams around us too.

WC should improve in theory, as will we.

but you're right the new found wildcards of who may struggle is Carlton and Essendon.

Guess a lot might depend on who we play twice, and of course injuries like you mentioned.

What is a dead set certainty is Geelong will get an easier draw than Richmond with that Geelong clown 🤡 organising it.

McAuliffe (I rate this lad,

When McAuliffe starts to hit the scoreboard this kid will explode, some of his runs that cut through the lines were so impressive although not rewarded with goals, but when he does, watch out he is going to jump levels.

.

They will make mistakes, sure, but our list was getting dire and bare for the last 5 years, and we did nothing. Now we expect a bunch of kids to get us out of the mess? With a few more to come, older quality, just plain old. Geelong kids look like pros compared to ours, as their system just works.

That’s right, and people believe it’s Yze’s fault. He was left with an average list when he took over, yet he still gets criticised for it. That’s why we have a rebuild and the list will improve as will the win/loss

Don't know Michaels, but I predict a worse year next as I don't have the confidence in the old brigade anymore. Would not suprise me to finish where we are now or unde WC with maybe a couple of wins.

McQualter had the opportunity to play the Rookies and refused to do so.

Let’s see who we draw , my bet is top 4 teams twice

I’ve already answered that question and would be repeating myself, so there’s no point. Baker and Bolton where always going to return to Perth because their families are from there. As for Blight, he’s a mid-season rookie, and we already have more than enough backman in our side. You and others need to realise that we have an average list, and you’re overrating it. I assume you wanted Hardwick sacked as well? How did that work out for you? As for Yze, how he comes across in the media is different to how he is with the players and off camera, and I’m sure Michaels would confirm that. So, you and others need to get over it; we’re in a rebuild, and it doesn’t happen overnight.

what a load of crap that Baker & Bolton were always returning home. They left only once the wheels fell off.

If we were Geelong, would Baker & Bolton would have left? Of course not. they left as they no longer could get success here

To say how he "comes across to us vs the playing group is different" - sure. However, we have had a clear exodus of former Premiership players leaving the club in droves, while not a single player from another team has chosen to come to Richmond. Where is your proof of any of this heresay?

I attended an event in Perth and noticed how close the Bolton and Baker family was to their loved ones. When children are involved, it’s always the right thing to do. You just dislike Yze, and it doesn’t matter what anyone else says. I know if I left family for an extended time, it would be difficult. So, to say it’s awful unless you have an understanding of the situation, your view will never change.
