Tom Morris, 9 News via Fox Sports:

“A major board challenge is imminent at Essendon. In the wake of an off-season of turmoil, key powerbrokers - including at least one former player - are preparing a movement which would oust David Barham as president, and other directors too,” he said on Nine News.

“I’ve spoken to one of the key powerbrokers tonight, who says this is not coterie-driven, and it’s just a manner of when and not if the challenge takes place.

“There’s a view the club has been left rudderless and the Barham era has left a legacy of division, instability, player drainage and lost opportunity from this group of people.”

Do not agree. The stability issues have been caused by the injury toll and the captain saying he was in and then not in. It is really a nothing issue. Like I said they are not tied to it. They can sack him tomorrow if they want. They aligned his contract with the time line of their build.

i disagree but it is what it is.

lets wait and see.

I am definitely not on team Little/Hird if this is what it turns out to be.

The good clubs continue to make good decisions because they have there house in order. It is no surprise to see Geelong continually there about. All jokes aside about cotton on deals etc. they make strong club decisions. Ditto Hawthorn. The decision to move on Mitchell, Lewis, Sewell, was celebrated. Not a tantrum was thrown, a board was attempted to be spilled. The masses got around the decision and the club benefitted from it.

Even a club like Richmond who have transitioned from premiership dynasty to rebuild quickly, dont be surprised if they shoot past some clubs with how the house is in order.

Well the Tigers member did try and sabotage themselves at the end of 2016 :thumbsu:

Specifically what have Barham and Vozzo done that you’re not a fan of, aside from appointing and then extending Scott?

Letting dodo hang around infesting the joint way longer than he should have after they took control.

The CEO ****up prior to Vozzo

Brad Scott dumb useless and stupid extension is my obvious bug bare.

Maybe im more against Barnham than Vozzo actually but whatever. Im emotional right now.

etc etc

Their fans were mad angry about it, make no mistake. They just didn’t have an alternate board waiting in the wings to use it as a catalyst for a spill.

im not talking about the fans, im talking about the people who actually matter. the board, the coteries, the people behind the scenes. Even if they dont, they sure as shit made it look like it.

We select someone who powerbrokers believe shouldn't and we shit the bed. It gets more chaotic the higher up the decision making goes

Pretty sure that to get Barham off the board they have to get the numbers to hold an extraordinary AGM or whatever it is called.
EGM, yeah. Which means voting.

Last time the spill came from within the board, with Sheedy changing sides to roll Brasher and brasher and his colleagues then resigning from the board, which allowed their successors to appoint their allies and consolidate their position.

Our coteries are much the same as Twitter and Facebook nuffies in their knowledge and attitude, but with more money and influence.

We are on the precipice of making a grave error. We need this window to get rid of the dead wood. This is evidence for why you must act decisively when you come to a club and have that grace period. 3 seasons in and the grace is gone.

Genuine question from someone who completely lost interest in us this season.(again) who's to blame for the injury list this season? Was it a freak run or more Essendon incompetence or a combination of both?

If it was the clubs fault then personally I'm happy for another clean out all the way to the top. No more building with broken bits for mine.

I was actually saying a few days ago, before any of the latest news broke, that if you look at how the Merrett situation is being handled it seems as though people at the club are mentally unstable.

And now we place our hopes on Andrew Welsh who, when he was a player, spent most of his time basking in the reflective glory of the 2000 era.

Credit where it is due, wasn't it Dodoro who had the local government connections that enabled everyone to make a money in property?
What does it look like when a player spends most of his time basking in the reflective glory of the 2000 era? Are there telltale signs?

Essendon has always had shit management of injuries for as long as i can remember.

This was obviously a bad season, but the underlying issue has always been there.

We could of had a Fwdline at one point of Stringer, Fantasia, Daniher and Tippa - don't think they all played a single game together, if they did it wasn't many.

Act decisively? What? We've acted more "decisively" in the last 2 years than we have in 20. You can't just come to a club and expect to know everything about the players and then cut everyone at once. It doesn't work like that. You still have existing contracts and retirements to get right.

I remember thinking I'd never see the day that Heppell was subbed, or not selected. I remember thinking I'd never see Dodo gone. I remember thinking I'd never see the day where we'd protect the draft hand at all costs. They've been as decisive as they could be coming out of what we were coming from. This isn't about decisiveness, or "grace period" (the Rutten succession BS is what abusing grace is), it's about impatience and old Essendon people rearing their ugly heads again.

There is a part of me, a small part, that says - ok let's play your game. Little comes back, Dodo comes back, Hird comes back. And you get 3 years. Because that's all you want to give anyone else. 3 years. And if we haven't won a flag by then, with zero excuses, then they are all barred for life and no one can ever bitch about them being the saviours of the club ever again.

If dodo comes back the club will never get a cent of my membership money again

The club already cleaned out the medical/s&C department. So there has been action on that front.

However there was a lot of bad luck in there as well. Not really the administrators fault the medical department did a poor job. Haven’t had this run of injuries in the past so no reason to expect this would be the case

A lot of finger pointing and blame game going on in here tonight..how about waiting for some actual facts to come out before you burn your memberships?

Maybe some should take Barham's advice and go and barrack for another f***en team.

Some of them were just bad luck - the ACLs and Draper's achillies

The soft tissue injuries though? I don't think anyone knows. The head of high performance and a few others have been sacked already, but it's hard to know if they were at fault or if it's just they had to sack someone. It wouldn't surprise me if some players weren't taking their rehab seriously enough too.

No point throwing the whole lot out, we're just starting to get some competent people in place and a big cull will just deter good people from taking positions with us. They just need to identify areas we're lacking in, and replace those people with better ones.
