Apologies for any inconvenience. We will try to find a replacement.
I don't think they will this year because teams don't know the compensation picks Tasi are going to receive. But once that becomes clear teams might do it. And we can even trade multiple picks for a single first rounder if needed.Who is going to trade us a 26 1st round pick for a Tassie year pick (unless Tassie falls though of course)?

Just looking at draft points (and assuming the discount gets scrapped) to match a bid at pick 3 you need roughly 12 and 14. I think it's doable. If he goes pick 1 it becomes more difficult but teams don't normally bid at Pick 1.

No I can see the post. But it says 2 and 12 as an example. I assumed that still meant two picks to match a bidAre you blocking CrippaTheGoat9?

Who do I speak to about my commission? There are so many easy solutions to the problem. The AFL have already put in fixes that should help significantly. If thats not enough:
- can't match a player with more than 2 picks
- if it's a top 5 player, need to match with a pick within 5 of where they are taken, dropping down to within 10 picks by pick 20, then just points after that.
Either or both of those solutions will significantly help and force teams to trade for real capital if they've a player at the pointy end.
It says "as an example" so I thought Cal was just giving a situation which could work. Are you saying you have to use the pick following wherever the bid comes plus something else? If so that would make it far more difficultYes, one of them being pick 2 if he goes 1.
How often does pick 2 get traded?

Yeh it will be. Hopefully bid comes outside of the top 2 which makes it a bit easierI'm saying it's going to be bloody hard to match for Cody if you can only use 2 picks.
Yep, many predicted what was going to happen... make statements about a lock out, then only implement something less drastic, and look how its worked, pencil case in point seems happy and that this is common sense. Which I imagine is how AFL wanted people to feel. It's not really common sense doing a truckload of work to introduce new rules, and them changing them before anyone gets to see how they actually work.
Good news. We get Cody.
Doesn’t sound like we do going by the replies in the F/S thread …Good news. We get Cody.
If that is true, why bother? Are you saying the AFL will actually make it more expensive than the actual position they are bid on at? Say Cody is bid on at pick 3, you need more than pick 3's points to get him. We'll get Cody BUT we're gonna have to pay heavily for example:
trade out this year's top 10 (TDK compo) for a 2026 First round pick PLUS use our own 2026 first round pick PLUS use our 2027 first round pick to get him.
We can only use 2 picks to match any bid. We'll get Cody BUT we're gonna have to pay heavily for example and use ALL of the below in some capacity:
*trade out this year's top 10 (TDK compo) for a 2026 First round pick.
*use our own 2026 first round (assuming we finish top 8)
*Use our 2027 first round pick
