And FWIW, a hard running 190cm midfielder might be worth a look
Former Swans academy player as well I think. A big bodied defensive mid is a need for us, so we could do a lot worse.

Surely if most supporters can't even listen to their coach at a press conference, even after a win, that tells you a lot!

It's likely the same with many of the playing group.
Marty and Reeva are very interesting coaches to listen to, with genuine care for their players and staff.

It is difficult for SANFL coaches to adjust to the AFL system mind you.

Id happily have either of them, and if we are sitting ugly mid year it might be a good idea

Reeves has calmly and assuredly worked his way up the coaching ranks. Started in the Barossa from memory.

Hasn't rushed at any stage

Would assume an AFL line coaching role is next
Recently extended for another couple of years.

Reckon he would go ok in the AFL system.

i cant recall seeing a coach at sanfl level spoken about so positively by anyone who has had even the briefest contact with him. sounds like the modern day all rounder that should be in the afl system if he wants to be.

How Hosie didn't get more of a run at AFL is beyond me. Absolute gun. But hope not today.
Is he any different to a Mannagh getting a chance at 26? No idea what more he needs to do for a 2nd opportunity (I know he’s a couple of years older, but he could easily make an impact at AFL level for another 3-4 seasons)

He’s a tosser and he wouldn’t get the same frees in the AFL

I’ve said it for years and years, he is way too good for this level, one of the biggest misses in recent history is him not playing at AFL level. Would have been another Mihocek, always had AFL talent just got screwed over getting picked up by North when he did.

Would be 29 by the start of next season, if Tex retired I would have him top of my bargain basement list to do a good job in that role for a few years.
He's not quick enough nor physical enough to play at AFL level at his size.

Unless he played for a big Vic club he wouldn't get looked after

He came over to SA as a talented wicketkeeper from the Blue Mountains NSW early 2000's trying to make it as a First Class cricketer with the Redbacks, but didn't get the opportunity at the top level. I'm not sure he had a background in Aussie Rules Footy prior to his mid-20's?

An insight in an article on the weekend re Jarryd Lyon saying it wasn't much of a transition between the Brisbane Lions and Glenelg in terms of the way the footy club was run re culture and family club etc. Clearly a good operator, as is Mattner, and Jade Sheedy for that matter.

I’ve been discussing this with friends post the GF. There’s good comparisons between Sturt and Glenelg in holding onto good interstate players that haven’t been able to make it at the AFL level.
Look at Hosie and McBean, how good have they been for Glenelg!
For Sturt we’ve got McFadyen, Anderson, Conforti, Giacometti, Perez and you could throw in Daiken from interstate comps, it’s all very well to get them here but you still need to find them work, accommodation, develop them and help them settle in so they stay for more than a couple of years. They can be the icing on top of having a good club culture and junior development programs.
