Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

There is no way we will even bother entertaining offers of scraps , which is surely what Mackie and Geelong will arrogantly do if Charlie wants to go there
They don’t have the picks
They are unwilling to part with any of their guns
Forget them.
D’Orazio can try every dodgy tactic in the book via the media.
No decent offer, no interest from GW, Davies and Austin
Charlie will just have to get over it.

Which eventually becomes temporary nourishment... well, unless it finds its way to KFC... then it clogs your heart... just like Carlton...

It may become a prized award winning rooster before that happens.

I don’t think so.
There’s already a lot of agitation after we completely botched the last 2 years.

If we bend over needlessly there will be fury.
Agree. I think people underestimate GW character. If he says Curnow stays unless there is very good deal on offer, then that’s what will happen.

This idea he will traded for whatever we can get doesn’t make sense to me. If Curnow had one year to go maybe, but he has 4 years to go - that’s currency in my book and not to be dismissed for a handful of beans.

can anybody confirm if Charlie Curnow's contract is front loaded? eg if we offered him $1m per annum for 6 years, and say pay $1.5 for the first 3 and $0.5 for the last 3??? If it is true he is willing to take a pay cut to join the Cats, i guess the question is whether it is truly a cut. Also.....how does his decision to take a pay-cut benefit Carlton? It doesn't. I'd be insisting he pays back some of the money he has been overpaid. In my example, I'd agree to a trade if we get good players from Geelong, and he pays us 3 times $0.5m ($1.5m). Obviously I could be wide of the mark here on facts
That money is irrelevant. Actual cash to the club is insignificant. The value lost is (in your example) a Coleman medallist on 500k a year. The only thing we need is enough significant compensation player/ pick wise to make up for it. Wanting money paid back is just silly.

Membership yes, supporters no. Been to a school yard lately or Auskick?
Being the registrar at local footy club in Essendon heartland I can tell you the vast majority of members of the club numbering over 900, Essendon are tops, just behind is Carlton ahead of Collingwood and then it’s daylight to Richmond/Hawthorn/Geelong…that’s a pretty good demographic size across all age groups.
This phallacy of Carlton losing supporters is rubbish and it’s borne out through official AFL demographic survey results

Ralph can pump up Gold Coast’s line all he wants, but let’s be real. Every time the Suns trot out a “not for sale” message it just makes people think there’s something there. If there was nothing to worry about they wouldn’t feel the need to say a word.

The Suns aren’t dumb. They know if they want to bring elite players in they’ll have to give upsome genuine talent. That’s just how list management works. So this “under no circumstances” stuff is pure posturing. It’s about leverage, trying to make sure they don’t have to pay overs for Charlie and/or Petracca.

In the end it’s going to come down to Nick Austin, Mick Agresta and Graeme Wright. They’re the ones who need to hold their ground and make sure any deal is done on our terms, in our best interests. This will get done.

It wont happen early in trade week so we have almost three weeks to wait.

I can't help but think that the AFL will put some pressure on GC to get both deals done somehow. The idea that two elite players with huge PR pull want in will be too good to pass up.

Ralph was saying that Elliott is getting lowballed with an offer for around $450K per season (2yrs) from Collingwood.
Should that continue, GCFC should be able sweep in for a FA with more coin & an extra year for another $1M in his pocket e.g. $650K x 3yrs

Elliott almost moved up here a few years ago to play for Brisbane. He has family up here.

There's valid stuff there other than just the money for Jamie.

However, I don't see him leaving Collingwood and he has always worked out his contracts late (footy first then business mindset)

The optics of not going after Charlie and Petracca when they're available will haunt them big time...

If they don't win the flag, the pressure will be on people that run that club for not bringing them in when they had the chance. And I'm not just talking about their 5 members, but the AFL in particular who are desperate for them to be taken seriously, desperate for them to get that hype...

They know this too... like everyone is saying, it's just posturing...

Retaining Humphrey and Walter over Trac + Charlie will be a very bad look for them.

Believe his bro in Far North QLD. Yep, did the tour of BL last time around & likely to end up in QLD post career.

Preference to stay but last contract may sway some thinking..figures before illustrated what the difference can be.

Collingwood have their own tactics on contracts and may be making way for the likes of Mihocek / JE to look elsewhere.

Source for the Maley news is a former NBL peer/colleague from when I was involved in the league. That's why I put disclaimer on it (I had heard a few weeks ago he planned or hoped to re-sign).
Maley reads like a VFL deal.
can anyone fact check this?
Jack's dad is Ben Buckley, former North player and former CEO of the FFA, so that's hallucinated bullshit.

Should we give Liam Jones a contract to fill in until HOF & Dean get some experience in our defence. Remember the chemistry between he and Weiters was excellent, but I know a few years have passed.....

1. No.
2. Jones played 110 games for the Bulldogs, and 95 for us, but it's great to see journos using something like ChatGPT to output tweets.
3. no
Namaste

Fear not my brothers and sisters. The toxicity that once dwelled within the hearts and minds of our beloved Carlton Football Club, is undergoing a cleansing.

Negativity which served to undermine our quest to be the best we could be, is being cast out.

Do not think in terms of what you have physically lost, but in terms of what you have spiritually, emotionally and culturally gained.

We were correct in identifying that there were issues within the club, that they did not wish to address. Our voices and the voices of new faces at the club, have lead them to an uncomfortable truth.

Now that they have awoken, we must throw our support behind them for the season ahead.

Remember, an egg opened from the outside contains temporary nourishment, but an egg opened from the inside, contains life.

🙏

Has a player ever had two stints at two different clubs?
