Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

This is what is really annoying me about Charlie there's reports that he will take a pay cut and is desperate to get to Geelong

I mean, what the hell is going on?
My take.

Charlie's not the sharpest tool in the shed...

He has put his faith in his manager who's anxious to earn some extra $$$ thru another deal and has encouraged Charlie to move....

It sounds strange when we look at that number but it's a reality!

When you're going to give up top end talent and high-end picks, you want to be getting a thoroughbred that's going to be running for the next 5 years.

He is not a 25-year-old buddy or a 25-year-old Jez (who cost 3 first rounders and was out of contract at GWS!)
Buddy was 27 when he moved to the Swans... on a 10 year deal...

Charlie at 29 on a 5 year deal is hardly earth shattering...

Charlie is a tosser then. So unprofessional.
Or maybe he really wants out? I don’t think it’s unprofessional to seek alternative employment if you’re unhappy in your current job especially as there are no restrictions from doing so.

The unprofessional aspect is the AFL choosing not to have anti-tampering laws that would limit such interactions to a fixed period.

The irony in all of this is the 'Port Melbourne physio story' turned out to be spot on re Charlie.

Posted in May and now reports are that Charlie approached clubs in May this year saying he wants out 🤔

Which Port Melbourne physio story?

The only one 1 can recall is Poo Monkey’s Marc Murphy Port Melb physio thread 15yrs ago.

The mail up in Syd. is that clubs north of the Murray and north of the tweed are not as keen now. He is too much of a risk (fitness, attitude) as compared to hanging onto the younger A-liners they already have. I'm also told that we are not actively trying to get something done!

The manager has form, and GW is not going to put up with it!
A 194cm KPF with a better 2km TT than the games best midfielders has fitness issues? Right

Also, as an aside, poor form by Charlie to want out in his first yr in the leadership group. Obviously wanted to step up into that group but then immediately wants out because it's a bit hard. Not the move of a leader and is very weak, to be blunt.

I thought it was an odd decision at the time to include him as I never once got leadership vibes from him. Galvanising on field vibes, sure (big, team & crowd lifting goals and moments), but never once proper leadership. He's only continued to validate that initial impression with his on-field efforts and subsequent trade request.

Pity that AFL is not played in a straight line then!

I will spell it out for you .

His legs are not what they were 4 years ago. He has been managed this season because his legs won't go for a full game. A 194cm KPF that had the ability/agility of Buddy to get to the ball and do the miraculous at least 5 times a game has now halved.

As I said, north of the Murray, this is what's being said. Him playing/training in northern conditions has nothing to do with wanting to go surfing. It's to help him prolong his career.

could be all of the above, and could be a simple matter of his contract being front loaded and now wants more coin
Could be his manager wanting a larger commission... especially after Charlie has moved off his heavily front ended contract.

"Taking a pay cut"... he's on the non-front loaded part of his contract now. If as rumoured, he's now on 500k a year, taking a paycut could be "I'm on a million a year, but I'll take 750k/year for the next 4 years". He's already received most of his current contract salary and now wants to tack on an extra mill over the next 4 years playing at another club.

If that's what's happening, I hope the club sues him for the extra paid in his front loaded years. Wanting out to get more money over what his original contract is a breach of contract.
