I think a simple solution is to remove the discount and only allow 2 x picks to match any bid. That ensures at least 1 x pick must be reasonably close to the bid in order to match the points. Problem solved.Assuming you mean F1 from Carlton, the only issue will be what the specific changes to F/S and Academy matching are for next year.
Cal Twomey suggested that to match a bid at pick 1 for the 2026, you might need something like pick 2 and 12 (doubt it'll be this extreme, but sounds like you'll need first round picks to match first round bids), which means Carlton can't afford to trade out their F1 this early in preparation to match a bid for Walker.

Great point. Very similar to Jagga Smith last year. A known quantity. When Sharp's traits are as obvious as they are, it's easier to find players who you predict to have higher upside, and thus rank them as better talents as Sharp. I think it's pretty much common consensus that Sharp is a player with a high floor, but low ceiling. Anyone who has a higher ceiling could very easily become rated higher than him if they prove to have a decent floor as well.

Whereas last year I was against Jagga (too small), I think Sharp is a safer pick. I’d be very happy with Sharp at 3 and Robey or Grilj at 4 (both players have x-factor).
Just draft mids. That’s my only ask.

Sharp and Robey = Complete midfield with excellent forward capability.
Then pick up outside runners later and trade/ draft for them.
If we split one of the picks then we go hard at fast runners with skill.
We may have already done that with McAuliffe. He looks at the level, can he play somewhere else or is he a 70-80% CBA mid?The question I keep asking myself regarding drafting Sharp is the opportunity cost.
Is using a 2nd or later pick (future or otherwise) to trade for this kind of profile of player (who may have lower ceiling than Sharp, but a similar floor) a better use of draft picks so we draft in two players with more X-factor/POD, or is getting the best in class of this type of profile in Sharp alongside only one player with X-factor/POD better.
They could get St Kilda, Carlton, Dogs pick for FlandersThe only realistic suitor I can see for a pick split is GC, which would have to be pick 14 (after Allen compo) and F1 for pick 4. Maybe they throw in Rosas too.
They're the most delusional supporters out there. They've legit overtaken Carlton and EssendonEagles board reckon Richmond will trade picks 2&3 for pick 1![]()
Not sure top 10Does anyone know outside walker and cochrane what type of players are projected to go top 10?
-Smaller outside mids?
-big bodies mids
-key position etc
Thanks, so if you think we are a big bodied mid short, this is probably the draft to get them. Not sure top 10
Pickett - KPF
Neocleous/Butler/Patterson - small fwds
Templeton/Knapp - small mids
Van Dyk - tall rangy mid
Van Hattum, van Rooyen, Houndsome, Herbert - rucks
Mellody- wing
If you want an inside bull then yeah at this stage you'd go now. Thanks, so if you think we are a big bodied mid short, this is probably the draft to get them.
