Only one who hits the score board is Hill.
West is a tall anchor worth he's weight in gold. In the future.
Jiath will be like a Lester starsivich type to absorb the pressure
Now Im convinced your on the glass BBQ. West has to play now. And Jiath showed less than zero at the level. His VFL performances have also been over rated for mine.

The way he gets held at stoppage before the ball is in play and its hardly ever called infuriates me. Kane tried a gotcha on Bucks one day on SEN saying Nick is umpired differently (trying to insinuate cheap frees) and Bucks was like absolutely he is (saying how he cops it and doesnt get rewarded like others do).
It was the same for Binnivan when he played for us - hes a cheat and a ducker. It was open season, too high didnt exist. Its mind blowing the contrast in how he is umpired at the Dawks.
Would be interesting to see the frees for comparison for Ginni when he was at Coll v Hawks

Agree. It’s a physical game but cheap shots (Scotts on Reiwoldt) shouldn’t be encouraged by being overlooked. Subsequent men ‘joining’ tackles - knees in, similar. If you are not involved in tackling, seeking possession of the footy, sheparding or pushing off to lead, it is simple assault. Striking an opposition player prior to the bounce is assault, pure and simple.

Players like Robbie Flower generate the revenue, not Steven Baker.

Probably better comparison would be using Ginni's 2021 & 2022 season with us. He only played 14 games in 2023.
23 was the "open season" season though. After the AFL journos started a campaign - started by one G Lyon and quickly taken up by most. His 34 frees from the season before was "cheating" "umpires need to smarten up." "The whole team is doing it".
The contrast now he is in the poo and wee jumper is staggering. Now he is "smart". Oppo players need to "change their technique", etc, etc......

We can have 2 automatic starting mids in Beau and Josh next year.
Enough of this pinch hit bullshit, we have a plethora of guys who can play HB and HH and Bobby to come back to the forward line.
Beau especially needs to go in full time, he attended 10 CB’s last game for 4 Centre clearances, that’s a mad return, especially for a “part timer”

When Jaicos spens time in the middle he makes a massive difference, no excuses anymore.
These 2 are mature and both a weapons in the middle, I just hope Fly realises that the other spots are more easily replaced.

Just for clarification, I deleted my post, because I only meant to include his 2022 season with us, not 21.

I wasn't really making any commentary on the 'free's' situation, just providing soreplums with the stats.

We all heard the media call ducking a skill in 2024-2025 & it now seems pretty much acceptable.

Whereas prior to that, it was a stain on the game 🙄

100% agree. Josh is a perfect mid to where the game has evolved to.

I have enough confidence in Parker that he can replicate Josh’s role in defence. Will probably get less touches though I think he’s much better defensively.

Houston back to half back as the main distributor is what I want to see too.

Yep agree totally, for a side that “lacks mids” we have two who are guns in the role and we barely use them there,

Drives me insane scrubs like that Irish cats player can have their back to the play and manhandle an opponent. It's just gutless rule interpretation and officiating that allows that to happen. He's not the first but when commentators blow smoke up the arse of taggers and deride champions like Nick saying they should just cop it, it does my head in. I don't pay $80 for a ticket to watch a scrub hold a good player all day.

Next year 🤞 with Pez also to go in the midfield more often.
An inside midfield rotation of Nick, Josh, Long, Beau, DeGoey, Perryman, Pendles looks fine on paper. Good mix of pace and grunt.

Just need to bolster our forward line (Buller, West, Harrison and more Bobby) and backline (Reef, Parker, Ryan hopefully Blight).

Still bullish on us.

I just take it as a Rumor on Social Media and nothing more until/IF we get a Proper Report/

That why I put it as a Rumor on Social Media
and yet you still post social media stuff

Was honestly thinking of this today.

We need to switch some magnets around and be daring. We put guys behind the ball that could play mid.

Jaicos, Perryman should be two straight into the midfield. Along with Beau.

Houston to be main distributor from defense

Play De Goey 80 percent forward

Yes, they really should fix this bias. I'm starting to fume about it. Maybe a 50m penalty will stop players from doing it. No tags, just play the ball.

This is the answer. Add Perryman to the list.

What I’m liking about our club is that there are no leaks on what we are planning to do this trade period. Hoping this means that we have some big plans.
Leaks dont always arise from clubs. The player managers "leak" info all the time for varying reasons.

I'd also love to see Bobby put on a bit of size and be played on the wing with a licence to roam up and down the ground.
Could turn into a very damaging goal kicking winger, no one would catch him ..

Houston needs to be told he is the man now and owns the hb line. A lot of ball to be distributed through him and construct play like he did at port. Time to take the training wheels off. Jaicos and Beau both mids as others have said.

Now Im convinced your on the glass BBQ. West has to play now. And Jiath showed less than zero at the level. His VFL performances have also been over rated for mine.
You were watching different VFL games to me then, even the coaches singled out TJ's magoos form for praise which carries significantly more weight than your zero, makes me wonder if you've seen him play at all.

A lot of talk about long's disposal, he was immense in the final against Adelaide. Against Brisbane our whole midfield got overwhelmed and Long relies on having support to play well. He could well be a less polished Dunkley type, and I think a lot of our midfield problems got revealed the moment Pendles got subbed out.

Now looking at the Lions list, the clear gap between them and us, and i daresay Geelong, is their quality in midfield. You can argue easily that they have 5 AA quality midfielders (Neale, Mcluggage, Dunkley, Ashcroft and Bailey) and even Rayna, whilst inconsistent has moments where he is there too. We've got Nick and that's just about it. So we clearly need midfield change next year, and I think we've seen we can't rely on our older players to run out the year in the same form.

So my hopes:
  • Josh into midfield/wing role.
  • Houston given free reign to play the attacking half back.
  • Allan given the season to show his worth (FWIW I think the club has mismanaged young players the last 5 years).
  • Degoey back to his best.
  • Howe, Pendles and Sidebottom playing part roles. We need to give other players the chance to gain experience and play.
  • Recruiting (I think we need depth in keys positions and midfield. I like the look of Buller). In 2022 we found Hill, Lipinksi, Markov and Frampton for cheap picks and all are premiership players. Need some more luck like that. I was keen on Ben Hobbs last year but I don't think he's the right size for us. Are there any state league mids standing out?
