Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

FWIW I agree with you. 2 first rounders and an A Lister for a disgruntled key forward, late 20s and coming off a shit year ... nah. Charlie has done us no favours here in terms of value. His value can only go down going forward. We have to trade him.
100% agree with this comment. Charlie is 29 and he has spent a large chunk of his career on the sidelines. He isn't committed to Carlton, so there is little point holding him back from a trade.

My only fear is that we do need some ready to go 25 to 27 year olds to protect the emerging talent from over exposure in their development years.

TA

knew matey was cooked and not serious when he rode his bike to a game back of calf awareness

This! 100% this... not to mention, riding in a pair of slippers... you would think at the very least wear some proper footwear... not an ounce of professionalism...

I said at the time he was taking the piss...

If this is one of his problems he can **** right off...

DUI before the draft, we still gave him the chance. Then he did his knee playing basketball and slipping on the stairs... club stuck by him, offered him a mega deal. Then he declared himself fit for the ef last year... Vossy still put his health first and didn't play him.

Now we're mishandling him?

I reckon he's got the shits we let TDK walk, he can see the trajectory in terms of team performance (although could argue he's big contributor to that) and wants out. Plus manager probably got in his ear about earning more $. I don't for 1 second believe the "get out of Melbourne bubble" crap.

I'm glad this is happening though, I always wanted us to trade one of the millionaire club players and put it toward the future.
I looked back on a quote last year

Charlie was held back from playing EF against Brisbane after he’d declared himself fit

I wondered if there was resentment from that, shows the level of maturity I guess..

hmmm

that speaks to good injury management by the club to me....

Someone mentioned it previously, but one option next year is to trade our 2027 F1 to Essendon for their 2026 F1.

That would give us two first rounders for Cody next year and two first rounders to Essendon for Bewick in 2027.

This would be mutually beneficial and deal with early round 1 bids on both kids.
My concern is port would also want to do this trade. Who would * prefer to deal with?

Fitness staff mishandling his injuries. Wright coming in and letting the players know the gravy train is over. I just don't see what Voss could have done considering how easy he has been on Charlie, even when his standards dropped.

The last one is the fans. We called out a lot of conditional stuff last season.
Isn’t the rumour that MV & CC hardly talk?
Leadership group would have regular meetings. Captain & coach talk daily by the sounds.
A couple of things noted;
Charlie was on Players and said something about meetings and his dislike of them
Doch mentioned CC in his farewell speech and CC in meetings

Just seems to be acting like an immature twat with limited responsibility expected from his football contract.

I've been following this thread for obvious reasons and noting the speculation as to why Curnow wants out.

Could it be as simple as the question I posed on the Swans Board?

No supporter (new or old club) wants to hear a player is simply moving for more money and so using the lifestyle excuse (even though it may have a degree of merit) is the lesser evil.
If I was the Swans I would not want him, as I could see him in a years time requesting a trade to the Cats.

Can't be him wanting more money surely. Media have been telling us he's willing to play for the Cats for a carton of Big Ms!!!

He was held back from playing EF against Brisbane after declaring himself fit to play..

I wondered if he held resentment for that.. perhaps along with some other things ONB discussed

I’d have thought Ed would have been encouraging him to stick fat with the blues

I guess money and your transient feelings and comfort are more important than loyalty and creating greatness for a club like Carlton

That’s the problem with players like him and SOS. Cracking the shits when it all gets too tough

Kudos to the likes of Crippa, weiters and Walshy for their commitment and their never give up attitudes…

We have an opportunity to right some wrongs next year, I really believe that and Charlie and others want to give up like wimps..

Good riddance

Could be valid sore point.

But he then bounced in with multiple off-season surgeries.

Ankle injury vs GWS and prob shouldn’t have played vs HFC where it went further south.

Club’s response “We’ve seen you play finals before, Charlie. Think it’s in our best interests that you don’t play in the EF”

I reckon he cracked the shits when he realised TDK was going to be earning $800,000 a year more than him.

What's with players that want to leave after the front-ended part of their contract? Is this actually a thing or just something people say ... surely the club's can indemnify themselves against this by writing it into contracts that if you leave (by player's request) while you're ahead of the curve, you pay the difference of (current pay - contract average) back?

There’s also the AFL marketing fund to share between 3 players per club.

If we do keep CC, we sure as hell won’t be offering to him, especially as he’s looking for pay cut to play AFL.

Just to add, Charlie has opened a new spa in Ocean Grove so I would suspect he's keen to be closer to it daily/weekly.

Edit. Torquay*
Good for him.

He is 100% more likely to be pissed off to Gold Coast or Sydney if Geelong don’t blow us away with a package.

Bumping my post from a few weeks ago in light of Bailey Smith's post today.

I was wondering why it came up with my comment in the preview, but goes through to yours... but yeah... Geelong are a bunch of flogs. They have been given so much leeway over the years that they think they're entitled to show up and win a premiership because they're Geelong.

I know Charlie is an adult, but where's big brother Ed in all of this?

A man that truly bled for this jumper, shame how Charlie turned out.
I posted maybe 5-6 weeks ago that Charlie wanted to go to the Cats and that was a fact.
It gained no traction but Ed was not a massive fan of how their opinions and suggestions were so disregarded in his playing days.
Not sure he cares too much if Charlie leaves.

I am so confused. What did I miss that makes him an even bigger flog?
