Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

If we traded CC for picks only WTF we doing with our 2026 salary cap?

Buku Khamis, you're the next contestant on who wants to be a millionaire!

Re-shuffle some big payments forward a year.

Pump games into the kids. Fast track them to best 22.

All in on Butters/Bailey/King as FA. Plus any of the other quality OOC players. Bounce back into finals contention as some older sides begin to fall off.

Tom Cruise What GIF

I didnt write in Japanese. What are you confused about?

I think some on here are truly underestimating the concept of addition by subtraction.

Getting rid of players that don't want to be here/have their heart in it (TDK, Jack, Charlie etc) might hurt in terms of player "quality", however getting rid of said players and building off of a united playing group that plays as a TEAM is absolutely a reality in play here and why I am genuinely expecting us to strongly challenge for the 8 next season.

Adding solid depth like Khamis, Chesser (who genuinely could be a gem), Reidy + exciting youth like Dean, Ison with a fresh, raring to go Jagga, why wouldn't I be excited?

If it's just picks we get for Charlie, get the best ones possible and keep on building, if you don't want to play for this navy blue jumper then you can GTFOH.

This is a turning point for the club, you are either with US, or against US.

The fact that Geelong have played Stanley for close to 10 years, compared against their keeness to bring in elite players in other positions (most relevant Cameron at FF), suggest to me that they clearly don't value the ruck position, so I would suspect if given their choice, they'd prefer Charlie over Marshall.
Last touch out of bounce bs if coming in will negate the need for a ruckman somewhat

Or do what Saints have done... Pay to 95% of the total salary cap, bank the 5% and roll it forward into future years.

IMO the best deal we can get is Charlie for Walter and an early-mid Future 1st round pick.

Gets us a hugely talented young key forward with 2 years of development, and a pick which can be used to help get Cody next year.
What have you seen in Walter that would warrant being more than steak knives in a deal? I just don't see it. Accept he's extremely athletic, but can he footy?

I would love to see some innovation from Carlton next year from our coaches. With the last possession rule do we even need a recognised ruckman? Can HOK just do the centre bounce work and Crippa over the rest of the ground?

Good point. Geelong have done pretty well without a recognised ruckman. Stanley is a dud.

Disagree,

Khamis isn’t going to change anything he can’t get into the dogs back line one of the weakest in the AFL. We need defenders which can actually play on a man not another intercept defender. Just look at lions Backline having players that can beat their man is so important, it enables counter attack so easily compared to our defence where the answer is just get everyone back there guarding space, which all it takes is a basic lead to open us up.

Chesser, might be good but I’m worried about his injury history.

Reid I know nothing about apart from being a good WAFL player.

Trading picks this year does not help us, we are probably going to need two first next year to match a bid for Walker.

Plus if we are an option for Butters next year we are going to need picks for that as well.

We are therefore better off holding Charlie to his contract and telling Cats if they want him in 12 months time they better be prepared, thinking two late firsts is acceptable is insulting.

If at the point of no return for Charlie and we will most likely take the best deal, Blues should openly come out and say listening to offers from all clubs. Appreciate can’t trade him against his will but put some pressure back on the manager . “West coast offering two future picks , heard great beaches over there”. Can only drive his price up.

Too much power on the Managers dictating terms and narrative through Twoomey types (ironically employed by the AFL).
