Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

So that backs up the picks only comment from yesterday. Securing Dean and Ison, having our picks ready for Cody, snagging the three of Chesser, Reidy and Buku will amount to a good period. Butters would just make it amazing, and WC future 1st which could be #1. It speaks to focus on youth and list balance this year, a bigger fish and Cody next year. Or Cody and Cochrane. But if something pops up that is big, we might look at it if it fits and works for us.
Can someone explain to me how we could possibly get WC F1?
Multi trade???

How do we have the capacity to get Holmes and Butters as well as 3 future firsts?

(I hope it’s true and we do but still how)

I would read the possible outcomes as

Geelong Option 1:

Holmes (has to be convinced by D'Orazio et al) + future first. Trading the TDK pick and some other business to cover Dean + Ison

Geelong Option 2:

Butters + Future first. Trading the TDK pick etc.

Geelong Option 3:

Future First x 2 + pick this year (maybe second round). Trading the TDK pick. This scenario is to set up Cody + a big swing at a player next year

Sydney Option 1:

Pick 2 + Future First. Trading TDK pick for another future first

Sydney Option 2:

2x Future First + points this year.

Sydney Option 3:

2x Future First and Florent or another player we think will be best 22.

I think GC is going to gamble on JUH and are more or less put of the Charlie race

Keep in mind we already hold a first in 2026, so the rumour is we will probably get two more in for Charlie/ by trading the TDK pick

Yeh no worries at all. You are entitled to your opinion.....I won't judge you for it. I don't think SOS is either a good player, or very durable. What B grade or higher players would you compare him to and what attributes would you say he has that make him higher than a C grader?
His kicking and versatility alone puts him above C grade, multiple clubs chasing him, 900k contract puts him above C grade.
On a side note not all C graders are bad Zac Guthrie is a genuine C grader who if he was at the blues would of been delisted 4 years ago and he has just played in a grand final.

You don't understand how Austin has become a whipping boy after managing to fail setting us up for a long premiership tilt with a core of Cripps, Curnow, McKay, Weitering, Walsh, Docherty, Newman, JSOS and TDK already there when he arrived?

In an AFL landscape dominated by quality small forwards and goal kicking mids we still have the a group of

Durdin, Motlop, Williams, Fantasia, Evans, White, Young and Cottrell as ours...

Austin has made some good picks but his overall build of the list has been a disaster.

I've always leant to the opinion that the core, the first highlighted group was our major problem.

Id absolutely argue the same for the second highlighted group for the most part.

Ed Curnow is also really unhappy with the club - have spoken to people who have spoken directly to him about it. They didn't say what his specific grievances were, just that Ed is completely off them. So it seems maybe the whole Curnow family has been turned? Charlie could feel slighted on his brothers behalf, along with other points mentioned.

Boo friggin hoo

Both players would have equal or more (especially Butters) trade value than Curnow. You wouldn't get anything extra with them.

This trade that everyone holds up as some kind of big deal, was the equivalent of pick 6.

If we are getting 2 1st round picks and a 2nd like the deal said and not giving anything else, it’s a really solid starting point.
The problem with statements like this, ‘equivalent of pick 6’ is that it means nothing. The point system has always been broken. 12 and 14 are sometimes worth more than pick 3. Pick 35, 36, 41 and 42 are almost always worth less than pick 1-5.

I don’t really see why this has got so many laughing, two 1sts and a 2nd imo isn’t far away. We can do slightly better but I don’t think it’s too far off

I’d like people to list how many players have been traded for more than this.

Its probably not that far off, but I would hazard a guess that this years first in a Charlie trade, has to get us ahead of a Dean bid.
