Maybe his base is $500k- 559k and has triggers to earn a capacity of $650?
Given they worded it as at least $650k, you’d assume that’s the base.

Losing Elliott would have made us worse.
Retaining Hill and getting back to full fitness improves us.
Losing Checkers hurts.

We do need another decent mid. Hopefully something unexpected happens on that front.
Re Checkers, I'm not too concerned now that we have retained Elliott and seemingly Hill too.

Checkers has been a magnificent warrior for us, usually drawing the opposition's best defender and still delivering the goods more often than not. But his body is now very banged-up and if its true that the Dees have really offered him a three year deal then he'd be mad to not take it (and I'm glad we seem to be resisting the urge to match).

I'll miss Brody but, realistically, at least one of this year's MMM trio were going to have to be phased out in 2026 for the development of West and Buller. It looks like the Dees may have helped make that decision for us.

Good news on Billy!

Given we have Charlie West pawing at the ground ready to explode losing Checkers is bearable. Replacing Billy or Bobby is impossible

I only saw him post about Jamie re-signing and while it's obviously a 50/50 shot of being right, he posted in a way that made it seem he had some info. Knew it would be within 48 hours of his post too. Also mentioned Checkers all but gone. Which we also expect.

Also have to wonder if Bobby's "2026 is gonna be fun" was possibly allluding to JUH coming?
You are reaching a fair bit here cod.

Ugle-Hagan met with Suns officials on Wednesday, with the Suns looming as his best chance to be on an AFL list in 2026 after positive discussions.
You would think out of Melbourne and away from his bad influences here, would be his best move.
The other thing is JUH would have to tear up his current contract with the Bulldogs, because no clubs are going to pay the $800k he's apparently on.
If no clubs take him on, the Bulldogs you think will pay him out an agreed figure eg. $300k of the $800k contract and send him on his way.
If that's the case, l wouldn't mind him playing in our VFL program for a season and then gauging his commitment and attitude to his footy...

Definitely needs to get out of melb from what ive heard of his mates. Hopefully he can get his life and career on track out of the spotlight with good support around him.
Not everyone gets a second chance.

Elliott for 650k is robbery, considering the average sum a player is getting is about 500k-550k now a year.

Miochek leaving is good for us, he's been an unbelievable work horse and we will always love him, but when you have Charlie West literally ready to explode.. it needs to happen.

3 years by Melbourne is ridiclous list management.

When you look at a salary you cannot look at it as just the annual figure. It’s not what matters most with salary cap. You have to assess the contract length especially in these days of 5+ years given like hot cakes.

The win with Elliott is that he re-signed for 2 years, not the 3 Suns were offering. That frees up a list spot in 2y which we will be grateful for if his output has reduced a lot or injuries, and gives us extra flexibility for future recruits with front loading.

Well its clearly false, given Sydney isn't even an option. That interest died months ago.
Its Suns or bust is the word going around. His last chance to be on a list.
Only other option if he didn't find anywhere, dogs might pay him out and then he can trial for a spot somewhere.
Hopefully he can clean himself up out of melb. Its now or never. Look at Tarryn Thomas. Once you are out of the system, its very hard to get back in. That for very different seasons of course.
talent only gets you so far

Best thing for the lad is to get out of Melbourne. I really hope he gets away from the dipshits that have his career on life support and makes something of himself. Too much talent to throw it all away so young
He has some bad outside influences here. In saying that l'm not sure living on the GC is going to temper his enjoyment of going out and partying hard....

The difference with Tarryn Thomas though is that he's abusive towards others (particularly women). JUH has really only harmed himself on account of the characters he surrounds himself with.

True, he is very much on that road to the football waste land, and this case is very similar to Tarryn Thomas in terms of wasted talent

they would need to put strict clauses in the contract. And maybe their strong indigineous program will help him stay stable.
Hopefuly for his sake it works out.

Yeah, the reasons clearly different. I don't think anyone wanted to see Thomas back in the system after everything he did, and didn't seem to had changed.
