Will be interesting to see if it helps the Blues play Pitto and HOK with Pitto only getting 50-60% game timeI reckon different clubs will use it differently. Those with strong depth probably use it as a genuine 5th interchange, lowering the load on the rest of their players. Some will use it to manage older or younger players specifically or players coming back from injury. Some probably keep it as a genuine sub (ie. sit out the 1st half) but with more flexibility to come on and off the ground if required.
I expect a bit of experimentation with an extra ruck but a gradual upping of the ante for running. Eventually we'll reach some new limits and then teams will be noticing and complaining when down an injured player from where we'll head to a sub being added back on.There is a limit
Sorry but I'm yet to see any evidence of anyone being ruthless at the club for a long time.If people thought GW is ruthless by all reports Chris Davies is just as well.
Buddy for a late first rounder kind of set the scene for F/A compensationSorry but I'm yet to see any evidence of anyone being ruthless at the club for a long time.
When are they going to get 'ruthless' with the AFL? A ruthless club would be pushing for 2 first round picks for TDK for a record 1.8million contract prime Ruck about to hit his peak. Yet here we are meekly accepting unders from the system as usual.
A ruthless club would be threating all kinds of action over the changes to the father son. That are going to see us bent over yet again... after other clubs have been gifted dynasties.
All I'm seeing is the usual meekness from this club.
A lot of you just fall for the same old spin and chinese whispers.
'Mr new guru is the bee knees just wait you'll see, he's going to sort it out .. trust in Mr xxx" Seen it with Silvagni etc etc, and all objectivity goes straight out the window.
Nothing ever happens

Should be pulling him out of the draft and putting him down as Cat B or move him into Academy area and not playing next year while training with us.. as a giant F you to the AFL, When is this this ruthless Carlton thing going to start. Or are we only going to be ruthless in destroying our list??Going forward it’s going to be unfair and affect every club that has a highly rated F/S candidate in the top 2 or 3.
It’s unfortunate timing that in the first year the new rules come in our club probably has the highest rated F/S that I can recall.
On the positive side, at least we still have the opportunity to pick up a gun player.
MELBOURNE has been given the third pick in the 2014 NAB AFL Draft as compensation for losing defender James Frawley to Hawthorn.Buddy for a late first rounder kind of set the scene for F/A compensation
Maybe we have been threating but silently threating - and we havent seen anything yet from the AFL as to what the new F/S is going to look like
Most supporters are also open to a Mrs guru too, not just Mr
linked back to where the team finished that yearMELBOURNE has been given the third pick in the 2014 NAB AFL Draft as compensation for losing defender James Frawley to Hawthorn.
Josh Battle pick 8 , his contract was approx 800k from memory.
No current season stats available
Just pointing out that we shouldn't be using Buddy as the yardstick, and from memory again Melbourne did a lot of posturing in the media to get it through, as other clubs do, apart from us that is, we're an easy targetlinked back to where the team finished that year
Because we're receiving band 1 compensation which is the best compensation available under the current rules of free agency. The only way to get better picks is to finish lower when you receive band 1 compensation. Why are we accepting one mid first for a record free agency? Should be pick 1 or two mid firsts.
They can do whatever they want with compo picks and have done before.Because we're receiving band 1 compensation which is the best compensation available under the current rules of free agency. The only way to get better picks is to finish lower when you receive band 1 compensation.
Examples? Outside of Ablett which wasn't a standard free agency signing I don't ever recall a compensation pick going outside the standard parametersThey can do whatever they want with compo picks and have done before.
No future In that. Should be pushing for a mid first for the JSOS compo. Given the offer seems to match Draper and Allen’s offer.Just pointing out that we shouldn't be using Buddy as the yardstick, and from memory again Melbourne did a lot of posturing in the media to get it through, as other clubs do, apart from us that is, we're an easy target
This will be very interesting. No future In that. Should be pushing for a mid first for the JSOS compo. Given the offer seems to match Draper and Allen’s offer.

Written into the rulesExamples? Outside of Ablett which wasn't a standard free agency signing I don't ever recall a compensation pick going outside the standard parameters
You said that it has happened before. Not saying it isn't true but I don't recall it so would love some examples.Written into the rules
Pretty sure that's not true. Band 1 isn't necessarily tied to where you finish, it can be wherever they deem the value to be. Including 2 picksBecause we're receiving band 1 compensation which is the best compensation available under the current rules of free agency. It is tied to where you finish 100%. Its locked in stone. Band 1 - 1st round after your pick, Band 2 - End of first round, Band 3 - 2nd round after your pick ectPretty sure that's not true. Every free agency compensation pick ever, and where they ended up
Take a look at the outcome of every free agency compensation pick everwww.afl.com.au
Here's the full list of every compensation pick. Please show me the examples which fit your description because I don't see them.
The number of picks and their position on the draft are determined by a formula the AFL uses to assess the value of the lost player and their new contract. It is tied to where you finish 100%. Its locked in stone. Band 1 - 1st round after your pick, Band 2 - End of first round, Band 3 - 2nd round after your pick ect
The situation you're likely thinking of is when Gold Coast and GWS came in. They could sign anyone uncontracted as a free agent in their first year. The compensation system was different specifically for that but that wasn't standard free agency.
Why are we accepting one mid first for a record free agency? Should be pick 1 or two mid firsts.
Would have thought the net contracts of TDK and JSOS would get us 10&11, but the AFL won't allow that to occurWhy are we accepting one mid first for a record free agency? Should be pick 1 or two mid firsts.
Every single free agency compensation pick ever handed out has fit under the parameters I've described to you. It's incredibly simple and I've even provided you with the full list to prove that what I'm saying is factual.Do you want me to cook your tea for you as well while I'm at it.

It is the highest pick (Band 1) possible under the current compensation pick rules. Why are we accepting one mid first for a record free agency? Should be pick 1 or two mid firsts.
