We traded our pick 4 to Carlton for picks 10 and 11
We traded young and 2026 3rd round pick to eagles for there 2026 2nd round pick
We also traded sonsie to Freo for our 3rd round pick back this year
And also traded dow to North Melbourne for there first pick in round 3 this year which comes straight after our freo pick
We ended up getting

Pick 13-- sam Cumming
Pick 14-- sam grlj
Pick 39- Luis Emmett
Pick 40- Talor Byrne
Late pick- louis kellaway
1 rookie pick in rookie draft

Schubert is the only tall in the 1R I want from this draft, and that’s to play at CHB. If I was the Dons I’d be taking the Richmond approach and making sure I get CDT and Schubert then take the good mids from the top next year.

I also think they should take a punt on Hertherton with a very late pick

Finally someone mentioning Hetherton. This kid due to injury has been completely of the radar. He's such an athletic KP type who I'd 100% want at a later pick. If you can get a vid of him, take a look. Well worth a shot.

Finally someone mentioning Hetherton. This kid due to injury has been completely of the radar. He's such an athletic KP type who I'd 100% want at a later pick. If you can get a vid of him, take a look. Well worth a shot.

Noober has put a few videos out of him. Started the year beautifully and would definitely be an option at both ends of the ground. If the stunned silence on here is any guide you might be able to get him with your 6th rounder after you use your 5th rounder to match a Kellaway bid after the 2R.

if your trading 3 less sure what you get at 4, future is uncertain in terms of who's available, how they are tracking and NHH and especially Griij is a drop off

if NHH and Griij where so tantalising they would be close close to getting picked 3 and 4.

From the futures games, although talent was visible, no Harley Reids, not yet anyway for 2026,but never say never and who knows how some develop for next year. regardless I hope we have good picks for next year


Melbourne in their attempts to dump Petracca and Oliver are must likely eying off top talent in the 2025 drafts and possibly 2026 drafts with a build focus. Will Melbourne tank next year??? who knows what they are up to. I assume Melbourne are not putting their 2026 first on the trade block???


the other question is in 4-8 years will Melbourne look for assistance from AFL HQ??


Since we have GVM sponsorship, we have to think long term, like the Chinese, to look after their sponsorship. When do we anticipate Essendon to see assistance from AFL HQ like Melbourne will probably do in our future forecasts?

Taking the literal interpretation, there's only 7 picks "in the teens" which are shared between 5 clubs.

West coast
Gold coast
Brisbane
Adelaide
Geelong

Possibly add GWS if their pick 12 becomes pick 13 due to the compo pick.

Hard to believe west coast are the club in question as they already get two bites of the cherry before us.

Not sure it's gold coast with pick 6 already up their sleeve unless they are certain the guy they want is going to be taken off the board (or how bid matching works in such a scenario). Not a bad death ride option though.

Doubt its Brisbane or Geelong due to ladder position; their picks are way too late to be confident of getting the players we want.

Adelaide might make sense if they are set on picking a south Aussie. Id rather death ride the suns though.
