2025 List Management Discussion - Part 4

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

Placebo.

But all those round marks (bruises actually) must mean something is happening.
It’s so much more than a placebo. It’s part of a range of options traditional Chinese medicine practitioners have to help restore balance to the system. Looking at it through the western paradigm of just promoting blood flow is pretty much missing the point that it’s part of an integrated group of options to balance energy.

I've had it in conjunction with acupuncture. Definitely not placebo. Luke Hodge used the same guy and there is a signed jumper in his wait room thanking him for getting him back on the field in 2012. I go straight to acupuncture and cupping over physio. Done both and recover twice as quickly.

Sam Edmund -

“All I’m going to say right now is that St Kilda is supremely confident they are going to land their man Sam Flanders.”

“His post clearance numbers last year were elite and that is the role he has been sold on with his 900k a year deal”

Pretty freaking stoked with what the list management team are doing this offseason. 5 best 22 players for not a lot out in terms of draft picks, signed our important young players, and have managed to keep our name in the media throughout, which seems to have brought a lot of positive attention to the club, and may result in us starting the year off next year with big MCG games against Collingwood and Carlton.

If we can complete all of these trades without over paying too much, and the period before Christmas goes off without any injury set backs, we'll go in to the new year with some serious momentum. If we can convert that to a killer preseason where everyone starts to buy in, and then some early season wins on the big stage, the list will start to really believe, and there will be some serious media hype around us. Imagine if by round 2, we've won 2 on the trot, and King, Nas, and TDK are tearing it up? Our young list will have some serious wind in their sails, and everyone will start believing.

Success breeds success, and momentum is a seriously powerful force in footy. Look at Adelaide. They do not have an objectively better list than us, but they had a great off season in terms of trades and training, and they managed to convert that into a season where they went for 16th (?) to 1st. No reason we can't do that if we add a whole lot of talent into our 23, and if we manage to get players like King, Henry, and Philippou fit and firing.

Exciting times for the Saints, and you have to hand it to the those running the club at the moment. Any other admin and I think all the talk would be about Nas going to Port, and we'd be on bigfooty doing what Melbourne, Carlton and Essendon supporters are doing right now with Petracca, Curnow and Merrett: desperately making a case as to why and how we will get value for our best player.

Also, as an aside, I am firmly of the belief that we entered a unique timeline after 3 quarter time of the Melbourne game. There is another world out there where we have a regulation 4th quarter that papers over the cracks a bit, but where we still lose. In that world, Nas never gets the media accolades, momentum doesn't swing in our favour, and he quietly exits to Port in the off season. I hate that timeline.
