Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

It'd be something like

Carlton give up Curnow + Pick 20 + Pick 37; Carlton gain Humphrey + McInerney + Swans 2026 F1
Swans give up McInerney + 2026 F1; Swans gain Curnow
Suns give up Humphrey + Pick 16; Suns gain Petracca, Pick 37
Melb give up Petracca; Melb gain Pick 16 + Pick 20

Someone help me out here and chop and change the above. Something missing
Swans make out like bandits.
We get shafted.
Dees get really shafted.

Walter yes, Humphrey no.

While Walter clearly has a long way to go, Humphrey is already a huge impact player and is only going to have more impact very, very soon.

Could very well be and I’m sure they’d like to keep Humphrey and get both Curnow and Petracca. But these types of opportunities to bring in 2 stars (if actually possible) don’t come along very often and coincide with being in a clubs premiership window.

Hopefully for us they think along these lines..

Asked someone I trust about Humphrey (they are quite senior at another Melbourne-based club). In their words:

“You won’t get Humphrey. I’m willing to bet you an exorbitant amount of money.”

When I pressed them, they said:

“All I’m saying is he won’t go to Carlton. Make of that what you will”

I’d go a bit further:

Walter, Humphrey #7 and F1
For
Curnow, TDK compo, and F2

Chas is worth at least 2 good R1 picks and some change - (particularly as a marquee player in a potentially booming market and probably pushes GC into top 4 / flag contention.)

So call Walter and Humphrey those 2 firsts.
The change is the relatively modest upgrades in picks, (c. 10 upgraded to c. 7 and F2 for F1 which may only see GC slide back 5 - 10 spots.) I might be ok throwing our R3 this year or next in to sweeten it.
They get the Trac and Charlie they're flag favourites!

I believe it's the latter rather than the former but I don't have that info.

Honestly, I think our chances of getting Humphrey were contingent on a Charlie trade to GC and it's clear they've prioritized a different direction.
is it clear though?

A guy like JUH could readily destroy all that GC have achieved in recent times....

Maybe it is a smokescreen.

Sounds like Craig Kelly

We are a much bigger club with a huge fan base, and I’ll argue closer to a flag with what we have and what’s coming in. Doesn’t hurt us if he doesn’t want to play for Melbourne
Considering what we have are about to lose, what is coming in that makes us closer to a flag?

Ps. Please don’t say Buku ….

I simply can not see us even in the picture for Humphrey if Charlie doesn't go to the Suns.

More than happy to be proven wrong, but just can't see it.

xDQ82x C4[2]Yo`DooR hearing any whispers at all regarding Humphrey? Or is it all just media dribble?

It might go without saying, but I can confirm we're genuinely interested and it's still very much in play (even with GC positioning him as untouchable).

As for whether he’s open to the move ... that part I don't know

Did we murder his entire family or something?

Didn't Hayward suggest he was open to a move if the Club needed to shift people to get in Curnow??

Probably helps the Dees with the Humphrey stuff and makes the Suns less likely to go after Curnow.

But Dees are losing a lot of experience and talent (Petracca/Oliver/May/McVee) - not sure if they will be that attractive to anyone atm. New coach might help
Very true, the rumour about Humphrey earlier looks like it could be us to get him but picks to go to Melbourne.

Humphrey would be a great get. What are we giving up? A first round pick in the top end of that round probably? Good small forwards with a heap of their career ahead of them who are contracted, it's going to be a hard get, normally you have to overpay. but...

I would guess if Curnow goes to Sydney their pick 9 goes to us then to GCS for Humphrey? Is that a trade they would do? They have academy players they need picks for and they also need a pick/s for Petracca. They would probably want this pick to ontrade to Melbourne so they can keep their academy picks and bring in Petracca.

I am really hoping that the Curnow trade brings in 3 first round picks which we can turn into really good players like this.

I want a future first locked to Sydney because I feel they could be bottom 5 which means we probably only need the one first round pick for Walker. That gives us at least 1 first round pick to use next season.

I am actually thinking we could be alright next year. I am keen for whatever first round picks we have to be linked to other clubs. Picks linked to Sydney, North Melbourne, West Coast, Essendon, Richmond, maybe even Port Adelaide or Collingwood could be handy.

I am still thinking that Curnow = pick 9, Sydney's F1st and another pick this year or next.

Our salary cap should be open at the moment and it should open wide up again at the end of next year so having currency to bring in top talent is important.

I think Sydney need to find that third first round pick. So question is, who is leaving there of that value? Would we take a player, Florent or Papley?
