Mum taught me never to discuss peoples age..... you sound a very mature and wise manHow old do you think I am![]()
Considering you can force a trade with a heap of years left on your contract, I'd assume the threat of it can also cause a renegotiation of the contract. It's ridiculously weighted in the player's favour at the moment, because the club just has to pay if it's the other way around and the player is getting paid way overs.Very true, Elliott style. He's got a good amount of years left on his contract though.
There's also the possibility that he sees himself having to compete with Petracca in the midfield now. But also wtf do I know.
But few wrinkles.Mum taught me never to discuss peoples age..... you sound a very mature and wise man

What’s wrong with youHumphrey for Houston, Perryman and McStay
That only refers to womens agesMum taught me never to discuss peoples age..... you sound a very mature and wise man
Being happy for a player to explore their options for what could be a beneficial deal for them, is very different to pushing a player out, which indeed would impact their bargaining power.Tom Morris has reported multiple times that Melbourne are happy for Petracca to leave but they didn’t want to be seen as pushing it as it would impact their bargaining power.
What is strange is how many people get sucked in by lazy journalism, the equation is always the same, big-name + Collingwood = clicks and even better when the suckers spread it around. You are really desperate to not have the Bailey Humphrey link to us be real and it's so strange.

As I said, it seems you don’t really understand what a salary dump is.
It kind of smells just like the Houston and Schultz trades. Going after contracted guns because we believe they are exactly what we need. What is strange is how many people get sucked in by lazy journalism, the equation is always the same, big-name + Collingwood = clicks and even better when the suckers spread it around.
I heard his young brother kicked 9 in a final back a bit. Might be in the genes.Sidey is a very, very useful forward. Should have played there years ago.

Be nice to pull one over on Carlton and Melbourne again!
I think he's just trying to get Suns to renegotiate his contract. His older brother had a bit of talent too:I heard his young brother kicked 9 in a final back a bit. Might be in the genes.

To what extent are people here concerned of a potential major drop off by either Sidebottom or Pendleton in 2026?
Just thinking about our midfield and the degree to which we should be going hard for someone (or not, and having a minor slide, but getting some games into developing mids and aiming for the 26/27 draft/trade window)

Do you have a pic of said Tod?You need a hot toddy.
I think you are mistaken in this case. You don't let a 1.4 million dollar star asset "assess his options" unless you want them gone. And clubs now know this in addition the lingering bad blood from last year. There is no universe where demons will get a deal beneficial once the player is half way out the door. Melbourne are not standing in his way so therefore will not get a great deal. Semantic trade week gobblydy gook about being happy to let him chat to teams or else be happy to have him back is complete and utter crap and rings hollow. You also don't lead negotiations from a position of weakness. They don't want him anymore which is clear reading between the lines. He will be at another club and they'll take unders to get his contract off their books. Unlike Humphrey who would fetch a premium as it is clear Gold coast do not want to lose him.Being happy for a player to explore their options for what could be a beneficial deal for them, is very different to pushing a player out, which indeed would impact their bargaining power.

Don't blame him.Rowan Marshall off to Geeeeelong.
Not happy with TDK![]()
I think this is a pretty fair statement. It’s a very professional way of saying “we’re keen for you to move on.” Sure, no guns to heads, and how we handled Treloar was probably the more aggressive, but ultimately we’re splitting hairs here. They would like him gone.I think you are mistaken in this case. You don't let a 1.4 million dollar star asset "assess his options" unless you want them gone. That's a distinct possibility - Anderson, Rowell, Miller, Weller, Petracca, with more coming from their academy.Very true, Elliott style. He's got a good amount of years left on his contract though.

Interesting point you made about Oliver's kicking/ disposal. 14.7% of his disposals this year are direct turnovers. Did you know that 17% of Josh Daicos' possessions for this year resulted in direct turnover? 66% of Josh's disposals were uncontested. 47% of Oliver's possessions were contested. Oliver's skills are nowhere near the worst in the AFL. They are not even worst for midfielders.Totally, that’s why I find it crazy that Cox cops heat when I can really only count Elliott, Pez and Josh who clearly were at the level with a couple of others thereabouts just like Cox was for his actual role. It’s all about roles and we were soundly beaten inside and outside in the middle and destroyed in D50 ground balls, I’ve got 15 losers before I point the finger at Cox.
I’m conflicted about Oliver. I want more elite mids without a doubt but he is on my black list because I can’t stand how bad his kicking is. Proper worst skills in comp levels. Add to that attitude issues and big question mark on defensive efforts (I don’t equate inside beast and clearance win with defensive running) and I’s rather we stay away. But… at half price and if the pick price isn’t too steep it’s still tempting even for a skeptic like me. I’m almost just as excited at the Humphrey interest because it would rule us out of Oliver as I am for Humphrey’s potential addition.
All in all I’m for resisting temptation this trade season. Keep the salary cap powder dry for Rowell Pt2 in two years, he specifically didn’t sign long term so I think we’re a big chance and Nick will still just be 24 then.
AFL are so desperate for their pet project to work - they’ll bend the rules to make it happen.I’d like to know who the Gold Coast is losing to pay for Petracca at the same time they’ve just re-signed Rowell?
