Adelaide v Richmond
Sunday 5 October
12:35pm Adelaide time, 1:05pm Melbourne time
Ikon Park

While our win against Sydney last week was far from convincing, Richmond are currently winless. On paper, we should win comfortably but we've been tripped up by similar games in the past. Potential danger game perhaps?

When I saw how the men went against the Eagles, I can never be too confident that a Crows side will win!

Yet another Sunday match, so we again only have the extended bench to look at.

Ewings has been omitted, fair enough. I'm a fan, but she has consistently struggled to get involved. Just a shame Randall isn't available to replace her.

Onto the extended bench comes Mueller (at last!), Leuzzi, Cronin and Smith.

The bench is currently listed as Boyle-Carr, Boileau,Kustermann, Tarlinton, Mueller, Leuzzi, Cronin, Smith. I reckon we will go with our our usual plan of dropping the last three listed players, which would mean Mueller comes in. Not sure what that means in terms of team structure, given that we'd be dropping a forward to gain a defender.

As expected, the changes are confirmed as Mueller in for Ewings.

Interesting to hear Harper address directly that Ewings' omission is due to fitness.

“Hannah is a bit stiff to be honest,” Harper said.

“She did some good things in the past couple of weeks, but she’s still got some work to do in getting to the state of fitness that she really wants.

“She’s definitely come a long way, which is very pleasing, but it’s going to take time to get to where she wants and we will continue to help her in that space.”

Another missed opportunity to not give Leuzzi a debut game. Probably sums up the issue in the squad that because most depth they have are just low-output flanker types which means the team really has zero levers to pull when the team has just been just spluttering along like it has these last 2 weeks.

Heading towards a weird period under the Clarke reign at the backend of this season, team just seems to be treading water at times and seems to be in a bit of an internal tug of war unsure whether they’re moving towards the future with the ball going through youngsters like Goodwin, Boileau and Rasheed more or trying to revert back to playing the old way with the same old personnel trying to get them over the line.

Know it doesn’t mean anything but Thompson named in the starting 16 in the followers just unjustifiably annoyed me.

Yes, our season currently has a similar feel to the last 5-6 weeks of the men's season, where it feels like our ladder position is flattering us, and in reality we seem to be sputtering. But the club just keeps going forward without any significant changes, seemingly hoping that we will magically kick into gear in time for the finals.

I think this is a bit harsh TBH.

The issue the league has is that the 2nd tier comps finished months ago. We're always likely to go back to the same players given there is no real way for the others to press their claims.

Think we are comfortably inside the best 1+3 sides in the comp.

I think, much like the men's comp, we're naturally strong enough to beat maybe 2/3 of the other teams just by turning up and grinding it out. But what we're doing is not very impressive, and doesn't seem likely to hold up against the best sides. And we don't seem to be trying anything to get ourselves going.

Fingers crossed things will prove different for the women than it did for the men!

Yeah I do think there is an element of the club’s standing/ladder position being certainly helped by some teams just chucking in some total inexplicable stinkers competition wide.

I maybe haven’t watched that much or that closely in the last month but I think that the standard of football has been ok-ish from what I’ve seen (it certainly hasn’t regressed) but I think some individual teams this year just look to be very sporadic and certainly real flat and confused in matches. North aside the differences between all the rest of the teams best and worst is probably more so than in any other recent seasons.

Unfortunately because of the Clarke situation everything does probably just feel a bit middling, but maybe it’s not a bad season to be middling given the whole season does feel like everyone is just playing out time before North win the flag.

I think it'll hold up against everyone bar Norrh. Beat Sydney who are around us, beat Hawthorn who are above us. Brisbane yes we lost but we got shafted again.

Melbourne are the other one I'm worried about. Yes, I know they've had a very easy draw, but they're just killing sides. Whereas we seem to just fall over the line against sides regardless of where they are on the ladder.

Just threw away a goal with that Kustermann fumble, doesn’t belong in the forward 50.

Conti and McKenzie making the Crows mids look like they are chasing them with their legs tied together.
