Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

We need runners and better kicks!

DON'T WANT OLLIE FLORENT HE PLAYED 3 GAMES IN THE VFL THIS YEAR!
Compare Florents 2024 stats to Hollands 2025 stats and they are marginally better ( playing in a top of the table side)but he uses to less efficiently. Florent is not a better kick that we are looking for.

This is where I get confused, I see the same things others have and agree with these points, so when’s the sackings happening?

Voss has been backed in, so how does the LM team continue if they’re the ones responsible for the past two years?

Surely it can’t be just Lloyd who is removed?
Wasn't there a rumour that there'd be changes to LM after this trade/draft period? Or am I misremembering that?

And if you're comparing stats Lewis Young is apparently a better kick than Errol Gulden. Florent has been a quality player for many years and would be a valuable addition to the team.

Im not sure its as simple as Voss has been backed, so we mustnt think hes the problem and it must be someone else.

I have no doubt coaching is a big part of the issue. I think we've just gone down the avenue of feedback and support rather then sacking.

Just like any work place under performance doesn't automatically mean sack. You can fail your KPIs and keep your job depending on the circumstances.

I haven't nailed down my thoughts on this, but I think a good way to assess a prospect like Chesser's value is to start with draft position, and then assume that that value degrades by 10% the first year, 30% the second year 70% the third year and 100% the fourth.

You then figure out what else they have done and what that adds. Rising star nom, no. Of games at AFL etc.

Using the same depreciation scale.

For example an individual award like Brownlow or AFLCA etc. should be essentially pick 1 value. They are a big deal. A Rising star nom is probably equivalent to 1/10th of that. So about 300 points. A Rising star win about half the pick 1 so 1500 etc.

It's all bullshit of course. But you can start to guess at what a player should be worth in a trade.

Chesser has played 37 games. Credit 10 points per game

14 in 2023 140 points *0.7 = 98

18 in 2024 180 *0.7 =162

4 in 2025 40 * 1 = 40

Pick 14 in 2021 =0 as it has fully depreciated

300points or about pick 37.

Obviously you can then apply other modifiers for injury etc.

Im not sure about your formula but its spat out the pick, that I think is around his worth. Must be good then 😂.

I think:
Chesser - Mid to Late 2nd
Khamis & Reidy - 3rd rounders

Played 3 VFL games in arguably the most stacked half-back line in the league.

You can't play all of Florent, Mills, Wicks, Blakey, Paton, Bice, and Roberts in the one side (despite their best efforts at times). Florent plays every game for most sides, good, solid contributor who fills a need for us.

Plus the last half-back we got from Sydney goes alright so surely history repeats yeah?

That is a bad comparison as LY and OF are not similar types of players

I would counter that OF is a bottom 6 player in a top side that looked alright when he was playing in a 6 top side but no good in a bottom half side and was dropped. I just don't see him as a need and would back in the young HBs we have on the list.

Genuine question: where do we get these picks from (trades), and more importantly, what impact will these have on the F/Ss of Dean, Ison, and Walker?

Florent came 6th and 10th in Sydney's BnF in the two years they made the grand final.

So you are just factually wrong.

Or maybe it would have been different for him at Carlton than at Collingwood. You cant say his form at Collingwood would have carried over at Carltonthe same way with any confidence whatsoever.
Josh Diacos essentially plays the same role Houston did Port at the Pies so it’s not optimal (Diacos is better as well) We didn’t have anyone in this role why it made more sense for us.

Who plays the distributor in the backline in 2026?

The AFL won't rig a premiership for us the way the NRL did the Broncos.

Invalid comparison.

The NRL lost any credibility it had left tonight.
Did the NRL make the Storm turn to water in the second half?

I didn’t know a governing body could make a sports team drop, fumble and make dog 💩 decisions with ball in hand

Agree with this.

They say there's truth in humour for it to be funny. I'm reminded of the laughter that the entire room had when Docherty called Jack's negativity out in front of everyone in his retirement speech to his teammates.

Imagine how negative that attitude had to have been to get to the point where making fun of it gets that type of reaction.

On another note, the ability to take feedback on board is important. Almost every time you hear from a young player it's how they're rapt to be at the club, how they love learning from Voss, etc.

More of that attitude. Become sponges and grow as a young team.
That Binns interview where he said he didn’t blame Voss for the spray he got and took it on board and worked on things in the VFL.

I think the issue with Houston at Pies, is Houston is not a natural ball winner. Port actively looked to give him the ball at every opportunity and he still averaged low 20s possesions at best.

Collingwood didn't do that, using several players to exit D50 which really diminished him. Needs to be the main guy.

Im not sure he would be that with us either. Should be but in the last few years we haven't been great at actively getting the ball into the hands of our best users.

Like Newman, Saad, & Haynes?

Weitering the centrepiece until he hangs up the boots. Cowan long term lock. Really like HOF but he’s out for the year. Carroll I’m a little optimistic about, Wilson and Charleson I’m hopeful but we still haven’t really seen anything to confirm it. Dean obviously looks the goods but we have to see it at senior level.

I think that’s about it. Florent fits fine, and has some positional versatility through outside roles.

add to this injury to some important positions Cotters, Fantasia, Newman, Kemp and then Lij and McKay
We were one of the best sides at getting the ball from D50 to F50.

Is there any wonder we fell off a cliff when going forward when all but one of those are quality forward half players. We can also add to that list and uninterested/injured Charlie.

We played too many young forwards, who while they tried hard, were out of their depth for much of the year. They were unable to present well which contributed to the propensity to bomb it long to a contest (or straight to a defender). Players further up the ground simply didn't trust in their younger teammates.
