Will probably suit the Cats midfield more than the Hawks where his selection was stifling the development of Josh Ward (22) , Cam Mackenzie (21). I doubt the Cats will play him as their second clearances player…
Hawthorn won’t win a flag with a midfield mix of Newcombe (23),
Worpel (26), Connor Nash (27) and Lloyd Meek (27).
Fast forward to 2026 and it could be a much better mix — Newcombe (24), Zac Merrett (30), Ward (23), Mackenzie (22), Will Day (25) and Lloyd Meek (28) however…

Look folks the rivalry is over. That small glimmer of hope that Hawthorn suppoters were desprately trying to hang on to (not won when it matters since 1963) has gone. You have nothing to hang on to. All of Geelong's current players just regard Jeff Kennett as a 77 year old hasbeen politician who frukced up the state for working class people. The best advice would be for Hawthorn supporters to re-unite there hostilities with Essendon. Unlike Geelong, you have a reasonably good sucess rate with them lately. I notoice you have been talking up Essendon games for the past few years.

And finally it should how crap your club is if you need to get involved in other clubs matters.

Kennett deeply insulted and disrespected Cyril's wife with a 1950s attitude and he was President of the club at the time
Btw I am the last person to defend/gaslight Geelong but I find it incredibly hypocritical of you to point fingers at how another club treats its past greats
Dermie also had a big falling out with Hawthorn for years i believe (something to do with unpaid or garnished match payments)
