We are playing the bridesmaid really well this trade period + every other teams pitch or “sell” has been more impressive !
Considering our draft hand or lack thereof not sure what you expect leppa to do. It’s no coincidence the only players we’ve been linked to cost basically 0 trade capital.

Sounds to me like his manager is making him at least front up, put his big boy pants on and show some courtesy. Manager doesn't want to burn bridges, even if Clarry doesn't seem to get it.
Yeah could be.

If he hasn't got the decency to at least hear the case of a club prepared to take on his multi million dollar contract that seals it for me
pop him on a party boat with some subway and you have him. What a cheap date!

Elimination of the bounce and the advantage taller Ruckmen will have per the example of the 2023 GF. Cox is incidentally to the discussion except for this most obvious incident favoring a tall Ruckman.
No, that’s not what you said earlier. If I go through your posts I will find your opinion saying that we should retain Cox because the new Ruck rules would give him an advantage.

I am saying to you that it is likely he will be delisted and your opinion will not be tested.

****ing hell. Anyone else heard the rumour that at the Copeland, the steak that was served to Darcy Moore’s partner was well done when it was meant to be medium?

Heard a rumour today that he’s now interested in being traded Sydney because of it
What kind of monster serves a steak well done?!?! I hope he marched into the kitchen and backhanded the chef.

I’ve said on several occasions the rule change might give him a lifeline - that’s hardly emphatic conviction, he should be retained, as you’re implying.

With Brody declaring himself a Demon, let's take another look at our potential 2026 forward line:

McStay, Elliott, Hill, McCreery, Schultz, Buller/West, Membrey

Arbitrary Rating: 6.5/10

Could maybe go to 7, but with our second tall having played 10 games or less there's no certainty there and clear risk.

Is it good enough? Maybe, but that relies on at least one of Buller or West having a breakout year. If not we're in trouble. I assume we start with Buller as forward/ruck and McStay as stay at home forward. This is good for Dan and would simplify his role. Whether Buller makes it in the more complicated forward/ruck role is uncertain. Even if Buller does work out that leaves us with McStay as our stay at home tall in the Mihocek role. He's not shown that he can perform this role to the same goal scoring effect, but he is a stronger target man than Mihocek.

West is the other option as the stay at home forward. I think we'll see development from him, but it's early to expect a big impact. It's even possible we play 3 talls at times with the extended bench, but not very likely.

While we can be hopeful that this is good enough, I think there's too much uncertainty around our KPFs - including McStay for durability and form. If we'd been able to hold onto Mihocek I'd be comfortable with our tall forward options. Maybe we're extremely high on one of or both of Buller and West, but even then our depth is a bit thin.

Do we need more? It doesn't look like we're going to be able to, but I do think we'd ideally want to add another experienced tall forward to replace Mihocek.

If not then adding an extra depth option would be useful. Again, if we're high on Steene or Smit in this role then maybe not as important.

Thank you!
That is what my initial reply was referring to.

But don’t you remember that half McStay played in the ruck in that final for Brisbane?

Christ Brisbane are going to be unstoppable next year.

It'll be a Brissy v Gold Coast Grand Final I reckon. Bummer we couldn't pull it off this year.
Everyone always thinks this about premiers but shit happens. Injuries, form will play a part. They can only have 18 on the field at a time

Clearly crap, I’m tipping she’s not a carnivore

It will be great to have Bobby back playing. My post was mostly about our tall forwards as that's where we've made a change.

Reviewing: in the 2023 GF we had to go with Frampton as a defensive tall forward with McStay injured. This "worked" but was far from ideal and put our Premiership chance at some risk.

In the 2025 Prelim we played an injured Mihocek and a near non factor forward in Cox, with McStay again injured. On this occasion we were not able to make this work.

I'm not big on tall forwards, but we have been hurt by lack of options in our last two finals appearances.

Unless Buller and/or West really take off then we have taken a step backwards in terms of tall forwards in 2026 and we were already only "good as long as McStay and Mihocek are healthy". If we're looking to compete in 2026 this is an area for concern.

As good a team as Lions will be next year and hats off to them for three GF appearances in a row. But can’t see them winning again with a fourth GF appearance.
