Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

This isn't the bidding war people think it will be , cats are playing this very smart.

Charlie wants geelong and only geelong.

We can agree to a better swans deal but charlie won't agree to go there, I would be shocked if he does.

Cats have made their best offer, every one from here gets a bit worse.

Forces us to accept or reject.

If we reject cats come calling again next year., and probably pick up marshall this year.
And then we reject again next year

The five stages of grief: Charlie Curnow edition:

1.) Denial: Charlie = Fake News!

2.) Anger: He’s a conditional, lazy campaigner and his manager is a flog!

3.) Bargaining: Walter, Humphrey, Rowell and 2 first rounders or we keep him!

4.) Depression: He’s going to end up at Geelong isn’t he?

5.) Acceptance: Finnbar Maley has some great VFL highlights - kid could be anything!

We’re about to hit stage 4.

Aaaand we’re back to stage 2…

Good news for us is the Cats will again need to offer 3 firsts next year to even join the conversation.

And the same the year after.

That’s the beautiful security of a 4 year deal working both ways. If he really wants out as badly as the media suggests the Sydney offer is there.

We hold the whip hand.

Even then, they are saying we will have to match with 2 picks only. If Cody is bid on at #1, then we have to match with something like #5 and #10. It's a massive guessing game which makes it unfair. The fact that free agency compo for other teams can ruin your hand is also grossly unfair. They need to preserve the original value of the picks you hold, regardless of where they end up. So if you hold Pick 8 and it drifts out to 11, you can still count the points attached to Pick 8.
I hate to even think it but the free agency and bonus picks impacting pick values is going to be so unfair on * with Bewick.

Imagine if Tassie were accessing next year's draft. They could bid on Cody at 1 and if we finish 14th, we'd have pick 10s points to put towards it instead of the pick 5 points we should get. How ridiculous that the AFL haven't made stupid freebie draft picks not affect real ones.

I see a young man who wants a change ... I moved interstate for a lifestyle change at his age as well - the best years for new adventures and the best years of my life. As I age, it becomes more and more alarming how young footballers actually are.

I don't really care what his reason/s is/are - whether it's for family, surf, to escape the bubble or to escape Carlton - happy for him to make the right choice for himself. We will be fairly compensated... and I don't know how anyone can begrudge a player if they just want to leave the Club - we've seen enough horrific videos of fan abuse that I couldn't blame any of them for wanting out tbh.

I can see your point of view, but I feel that for most, if it were their family member in this position, they'd be happy for that person to do whatever felt like the right move for them.

Despite all the narrative I highly doubt it’s for the surf.

You're not doing as great a job as you think, Robbie. Sakc.

When did he say geelong only, as opposed to most? If he rules out Sydney or gold coast then keep him. Three early to mid 2nd rounders might make us stronger, but it's unlikely. Keep him and he can play AFL if he's willing to improve his attitude, VFL if he's not. Sydney is the only team that may give us a good return. Sydney was one of his preferred targets. If he changes his mind, **** him.

So if you think that about Curnow in what world would you like us to keep him?
Well firstly Im not the one having to manage him if he stays. As a supporter, my feelings towards CC are simplistically that I look forward to seeing the back of him. I am acutely aware however that he is a valuable commodity and the buyer must pay an appropriate price. I can see the club standing firm and forcing him to see out his contract if what they deem an appropriate offer is not made. With that will come hard work turning him around to the point he will contribute.
