Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

2023: 3rd in B&F, Swans Elim Final exit

If we're baulking at a player from a great football environment that's proven himself in a midfield of Warner, Heeney and Gulden for the better part of the last 4-5 years, then we've got rocks in our head.
We don't need him, where will he play in our team? Why get an extra guy into a position where we are actually strong and ignore bolstering our short-comings?

A-Graders from trades on the lists.

Brisbane
Dunkley, Neal & Charlie / Allan & Draper could reach A Grade in the Brisbane environment.

Collingwood
Houston, Hill, Mitchell & Howe / 2025 put their hat in the ring for Curnow & Oliver

Hawthorn
Battle, Barrass, Gunston, Impey, Ginnivan / Chasing Merrett & Humphrey

Geelong
Dangerfield, Smith, Cameron, Stengel / chasing Curnow & Marshall

What A-Graders do we have on the list from trades?

I’d say Newman

Cerra, Newman, Haynes, Hewett, Saad, Evans.
OK, not Evans...but the rest are valid.
Chasing Humphrey and presumably Butters.

I'm sure you'll argue that they're not A-graders in your view, but that starts getting into semantics on the letter-grading system.

Cerra is on par with Dunkley or Impey or Houston.
Haynes we got late, but he was excellent pretty much all year and placed well in the B&F, would have him on par with Howe.
Hewett has been, hands down, our most consistent and reliable mid for a while now, on par with Dunkley, Mitchell and Houston.
Saad is getting on bit now, but has undoubtedly been one of the games premiere running half backs and his defensive efforts have, by and large, been very good too.

I'd suggest our issue hasn't been getting A-graders in, it's been getting them in the right spots.

Cerra feels surplus to requirements given Hewett, had we secured a quality small or medium forward instead I think our prospects would have been a bit different.

I edited the post from Dunkley and Atkins to just Atkins to be fair to them. Not sure if they responded to it before it was edited.

And thats purely because Dunkley is so good at what he does we'd be better off shipping out some of our inside mids to fit him in.
He would have replied after as it says Atkins in his post, but if he saw Dunkley first and thought he was replying to that, then fair enough.

Agree, Atkins a better comparison. Dunkley a level or 2 above those 2 although still not a need. If Rowbottom is a worse version of Hewett, Dunkley is a better version of both.

Free up Walsh to play an outside role again.

Jagga comes in and gives us strength in a current weakness on top.

There's your magnet moves.
Hard no from me, our club may feel differently, and we could get him and it turns out awesome, but we let Kennedy go for the exact reason we wouldn't be bringing Rowbottom in IMO.

Not definitely but just out of the blue

Never really set the world on fire did Durds, but seems like an absolute legend of a bloke, especially his relationship with his younger sister.

I hope he doesn't go, but if he does, I hope it's to a good club and he flourishes.

What makes you believe Rowbottom is a worse version of Hewett?
